I own a ground floor 1 bedroom leasehold flat (999 years) and these charlatans have charged my landlord £800 for building insurance for the converted house (ie. 2 maisonnettes , upstairs and mine ). That's £395 each, whereas if I was able to insure my flat by itself , it would be about £120 . These brokers working in cahoots with the primary insurer try to rip people off and the government need to step in and get rid of these rogues. Avoid them and just shop around for a better deal (my landlord didn't shop around this year but I will do it for them next year and it won't be this lot). Unfortunately , we have been fleeced this year.

This a recap on how these lot increase their prices and depend on customer apathy regarding shopping around for a better deal.

2022 - Different insurer Gallagher broker £539
2023 - 1st Sure £675 - 25% increase
2024 - 1st Sure £790 - 17% increase
2025 - 1st Sure £870 - 10% increase

Do yourselves all a favour and just shop around. Don't let these insurance brokers swindle you.

1st sure staff secured for us, as leaseholders in a Management Company, a very competitive premium. In particular, Lauren our contact at 1st Sure, worked on our behalf in a very professional, informed and helpful manner. Other staff we came into contact with in her office were great too, keeping us abreast of progress on the quotation from their computer records. In summary, we have found staff at 1st Sure to be professional, responsive, friendly and efficient.

I recently received my renewal invite for multiple flat buildings insurance with this company. Remarkably it included a £25 ‘administration fee’, it would appear I have to pay their admin costs in order to be a customer. Furthermore the renewal quote was in excess of 25% more expensive than any other quote I managed to find. This was explained in the renewal documentation as directly due to COVID. For example, potential extended scaffolding costs as workers stayed within government guidelines – absolute nonsense. I would urge extreme caution using this company, goodness knows how they’ll behave in the event of a claim and what spurious charges they’ll come up with if they believe this is an appropriate way to treat customers.
