Took out insurance. My car has a body kit and alloy wheels which I inputted on the system and TRIPLE checked it was on there as this was the only company not hiking the price up for it. Strangely this didn’t seem to affect it.
Having received my policy documents, it’s saying I have inputted that my car has no modifications which is not true as I declare this every time.
Strangely I’ve now received an email asking me to take NINE pictures of my car from inside, front, back, sides, the boot and under the bonnet and if anything doesn’t match up then I will be sent a new quote and will have to pay £45 for anything that isn’t correct. This is a complete scam.
I am completely sure I entered the body kit and alloy wheels and even confirmed on a call to their call centre that I have put this in. The woman on the phone said the system kept deleting this answer on the final page when she was entering the body kit and reverting it back to no kit. They scam people by letting you process and changing it on the payment page.
Luckily I read the reviews beforehand and took pictures to confirm I had added and it had been accepted. Just when my policy details finally arrived it had been removed.
They rope you in with a low quote then hit you with additional charges and threats of cancellation. AVOID this company and pay extra. Never seen am insurance company change policy details then suddenly ask for pictures of the vehicle. Shoddy company. Stay well away.

Avoid at all costs! Had my policy cancelled and was charged £350 for the privilege.
I was on the You Drive app with the tab which never showed my driving even though the red L.E.D flashed (on the tab) to let me know it was connected. I also over estimated my mileage per year which affected this.
You do receive an email from them telling you you haven't used your vehicle, however, you can't reply to the email as you get this message.
"Hello,
We’re sorry, this email address isn’t monitored
This means that, unfortunately, we won’t see your message and we won't take any further action until you get in touch in a different way."
I called the number provided online but it's an automated service and only deal with none fault claims and will not direct you to the right person to contact.
Now they have cancelled my policy they say you have to tell the other insurance companies because I now have a mark against my name, even though the policy was paid IN FULL and was not due to none payment or trying to con the insurance, but instead due to over estimating the mileage per year and the fact the app didn't record my driving. Let me add I also deleted and reinstalled the app twice.
To Hastings Direct do not respond to this review. In my opinion Hastings are ripping people off, and I wish I'd have done my research and read the reviews below

Absolute money grabbers, halved the value of my car because I couldn't find one being sold with similar miles, then when they cancelled my policy two weeks before they should've after giving me a month to find a new car to add to the policy they are charging me £800 for them cancelling it even tho it states in the contract if they cancel the policy there's no fee but if I do then there's a £45 cancellation fee, they also stated they would ring me before cancelling my policy to see what I want to do but never did, my vehicle would've and has been valued at approximately £8000, I didn't even get £4000. When I rang to see what is going on and what can be done all they said was because they'd cancelled it they are charging me the money and will take it in two days or it'll be sent to bailiffs, would stay clear at all costs of any Hastings company, they have a few with different names so be careful and I pray I can find a half decent car with the money I'll have left over.

I have been with Hastings since last February and recently they contacted me asking for photos of my car or they would cancel my policy. I provided the photos as requested and then received an email to say my policy had been cancelled based on the photos provided with no further information.
I then called Hastings to enquire why my policy was cancelled and was told it was because i had a body kit fitted which was not covered under my policy. I confirmed with them that i had declared a full body kit through Go compare which is where i got the policy with Hastings from and Hastings confirmed that they could indeed see that i had put the details of the body kit at Go compare but they then said Go compare had not passed that detail on.
I argued the point that I had provided all the required information to Go compare and that Hastings had provided an insurance policy based on that information and that they had full visibility of the information i provided so I do not understand why now they decide to cancel based on a body kit that they knew about and have visibility of the information.
Absolutely disgusting treatment from Hastings and I am now penalised through a clear communication problem between Go Compare and Hastings and they now want me to pay over £60 in admin fees because they cancelled my policy based on their own incompetence. AVOID!
I will be following this up with a report to insurers ombudsman for investigation.

Badly let down I’ve been with them many years they wanted to charge me £300 more than any other Insurance quote I got. in the end i cancelled went to Avia with better benefits .they didn’t even bother checking if they could find me a better quote , so trust me shop around first and if possible avoid Hastings

trying to cancel my insurance for no reason - in response to the fake nice reply - i have had 3 emails ignored. I have done everything they have asked. They dont 'have' to cancel any policy. They simply want to make their figures look better

I gave a poor rating at first because I was talked into cancelling my new policy to take up my renewal which they match they said i would get money back in 3-5days but what wasn't said to me was they would hold my money for a month then pay me back after my renewal starts .well I dont have an extra £750 lying around i was panicked but I've been promised my money back earlier now through bank transfer so I will change rating but I would say if people cancel you should make them aware or better yet return the money you shouldn't hold onto it people can't afford insurance twice
