My wife used Hine Downing to make a will. Whilst doing so she was advised to change the house from tenents in law to tenents in common so if anything happened to one of us the other would have protection, she was advised that we should make a will separately. When i did mine i explained that i wanted the same clause as my wife's,( which was done prior to mine), in that when one of us dies the spouse can remain in the house until sold or dies. When my wife decided to change hers last month, she learned that the clause was not in her will. She asked me to check mine. It wasnt in mine as well. When i called William Richards he said he would look into it. After 2 weeks i called again and he said that i should have properly read the will.( which is true and my error). What i didnt like after i emailed him is his lying of events even to the point of saying that i "discounted" what i had asked for. This guy is not fit to practice, his Linkedin page suggests he specializes in vunerable elderly people! I shudder to think how he treats them!! So for Wills and Probates etc steer well clear of this practice. I was also told afterwards that William Richards has a criminal record for drink driving, firearms offences, assult of a woman and damaging property. I wish they had told me this before using Hine's.

My dad used these for his will. Later in life he was after some clarification on a couple of issues he wanted answering, after many calls and emails Teresa said that she couldn't help him. After I called them to make a complaint and explained the situation to John, nicely (one of the founding members) He said that he would look into it and get back to me. Weeks later and nothing. Aviod these at all costs! They just want your money and are not interested in sorting out any issues that you might have.

effing useless, no updates, slow has a new definition, no sympathy and generally don't know if they ever doing anything. wish my folks had never placed their wills with them. 5 months after my mom passed away they still have not started to register the probate application yet i never got any queries on information and i had power of attorney for her, and still waiting on a fee agreement for the estate when my dad died in 2022.........cannot and will not recommend. like a fellow postee, i am only giving one star to make this review live. hope this is helpful, i will go back to waiting for their response and any progress

If I could give these solicitors less than one star I would. Honestly the worst service I could ever imagine. After 'looking after' my dads estate for 12 years until I reached the age in which I could access the trust, it still took a futher year to get ANYWHERE. You would think that when being charged 3k a year you would at least get yearly updates of interest etc but we didn't hear a thing unless we contacted them for something. It gets a bit upsetting when every email sent to Mr Deacon to try and release funds desperately needed an automated email is sent back saying he's on hoilday. We worked with 2 other companies whilst selling the house and they were 10000 times better. I wish I had never had to have any interaction with this company at all.

AVOID! Completely useless. Hine downing were in charge of my fathers estate. Not only has a simple request( please release the money to me) taken 14 months and counting but we are no closer, there are no updates, no one is contactable and even if by some miracle you get through to someone they are rude and unhelpful. Can never get hold of Mr Deacon and even when an occasional email comes through every 3 or 4 months it’s completely useless. Cannot explain how much I wish my dad hadn’t had used this form before passing!

AVOID
The most unprofessional, horrendous service after the sadness of my mother's passing. Communication frequently poor and tardy. A whole bank account was missed. Funds were kept for several months.
Worst of all, in nearly 2 years we appallingly learnt they hadn't even - Started - the reconstitution of deeds.
The response from 'management' was not only unapologetic - but rude and disrespectful. (Having heard of this person's reputation I am shocked he is even allowed to work in this position).
My family and I have not only missed out on the sale of the property last year, but now have to pay phenomenal amounts of council tax for an empty property until our new solicitors reconstitute the deeds as Hine Downings were paid a fortune to do.

Called and spoke to the receptionist explaining I had an urgent time dependent issue, and was told someone would call back as soon as available. I didn't get a call-back, not that day, that week, or that month. Terrible service, not worth the one star rating I've given.
