I brought a car from a garage and was sold a MotorGuard Warranty - for me, I wanted that peace of mind knowing if something went wrong with my used car I would have support from MotorGuard.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what I did not get. I went to my local garage, who informed me the driveshaft needed replacing due to a failing internal joint. I sent a report from my garage detailing what had to be done, referenced the Dealer Warranty manual which states the driveshaft was covered.

Mark Warren replied to be on behalf of Warranty Solutions Group stating the "...silver listed parts agreement which covers a sudden mechanical failure/breakage."

I replied, asking Mark "...so the drive shaft (or bearing, whatever it is) has to be broken before I can claim under warranty?" I also had asked "Please can you confirm, in writing, I will still be covered with the breakdown cover should anything happen to the drive-shaft whilst driving?"

Mark replies with "The worn driveshaft is not something we will cover. As we know the part has an issue we have no liability even if the part now breaks as you are driving the vehicle with a known fault. To confirm we have no liability towards this part."

To summarize;
* Page 5 of the Dealer Warranty book states "Don’t ignore any warning lights, signals or gauges as you could make the problem worse which may affect our decision. Any faults which might be covered must be reported to us within 7 days."
* ...but if you get the issue diagnosed, and it is not a case of sudden mechanical breakdown, you are not able to use the breakdown cover or claim a repair under warranty.
* The warranty is really only useful, if the car with no signs of warning has an immediate, potentially life threating, problem (such as a driveshaft breaking).

TL;DR
Regarding the Silver level agreement - it provides very little value unless your car happens to break with zero signs of warning (else, it's your fault). I would not recommend.

Even after detailed explanation on the invoice what needs to be done in order to replace the part, they agreed with the facts . but disagreed to pay out the extra hours spent on the vehicle. Also they will not pay for genuine parts. Had to call them back as they did not call even after a 24 hour.

So far not good, haven’t returned calls. The garage finding it difficult to work with them. Pay garage to diagnose fault and motorguard suggest video. Send video evidence and not enough now. Have to pay to have part removed and sent away. So potentially could be with out car for weeks, all end the end of it for them to probably come up with another way out. Seems to me so far they’re a company that will try do what they can to get out of claims.

We have been with Motorguard warranties for some time
now. They have been fantastic to deal with and the products are extremely comprehensive. It has made selling the warranty easier and claims have also been very straight forward. Would highly recommend to dealers and customers.

i have a silver policy with this company and there was a few issues with the claim but a manager got involved and was brilliant and cleared everything up and sorted it all out . Very professional and very quickly done. The manager that helped me was brilliant as he listened to what i said completely. Thank you .

Purchased a car and came with a warranty from supplier, thought probably not worth the paper it’s written on . But I was wrong, couldn’t be for helpful, the repairing garage also had no issues with a claim , great staff ,always helpful , looking at extending policy

Great service, had a claim (not a cheap one) no quibble at all , explain the problem and straight away they agreed to pay for whole of the repair including all parts and labour.
