I have been with Photoguard for many years. When I did need to make a claim they dragged it out for nearly a year, then decided they were not going to uphold my claim. I ended up taking the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service who thankfully decided in my favour. After two years of stress and writing statements and letters, it looks like I may eventually get the replacement equipment I was covered for.

11 years of insurance and then i find that they quote me 30% more to renew than what a new customer would pay for the same cover.

Asked to cancel the automatic renewal because of this and instead they instantly terminated my insurance when i should have another week of cover.

0 claims all these years and that's how they treat me. Can only imagine if i had to claim...

Also have a good read on the small print, the only way they cover theft is if someone literally beats you up and rips stuff off your hands. wont cover certain times (morning/evening), not if stolen from your house unless you have a billion of certifications on all doors and windows, wont cover gear stolen off your car if parked at your home (while you load up/unload for example), wont cover anything thats not on direct eye sight (how can i do photography if i have to literally be staring at my gear back 24/7?) and so on.
So think twice on insuring gear for the theft protection as 99% of theft scenarios wont be covered.

This company has to be the best scam out there when it comes to insurances for photography equipment. Was with these for a year needed to make a claim they made the whole process time consuming and had no support for why I was claiming they assume everyone is a fraud avoid spend your hard earned money on someone else.

I was quite disappointed that after paying them over £400 for my cover for 5 years they would not flex on my renewal when the premium went up yet again this year - I have never claimed from them - would have been nice to have been valued as a customer - from what I have read here I'm kind of glad I left

If I could give it 0 star, I would do that. The worst company to insure your photography gears, my claim has taken far too long. This company is worse than the thieves that might rob your equipment in the first place. I’ve experienced more trauma while dealing with them that the robbery itself. Photoguard will happily take your money but have no doubt they will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get out of paying out a claim. Basically, I’m a portrait&street photographer and I was attacked in the street on June, 1st. Unfortunately, my backpack including all my camera equipments were stolen. The incident was so shocking moment for me as I never experienced anything like that before. I reported it to the police, have gone through counselling sessions and still have not fully recovered. Photogouard has been a nightmare to deal with. They keep delaying processing the claim by asking irrelevant questions and requesting irrelevant documents. It’s been over 11 weeks now and I’m still waiting, this is absolutely nonsense and totally unacceptable.

Based on my experience with this company I ask you not to insure your gears with them as they have been awful for theft as is in my case and why I have given this review. Just read through the reviews here, so many of those 5-star reviews have nothing to do with a claim, I regret that I never read their reviews before I took on the policy. They’ve put me in a terrible situation that has hugely damaged my business and my personal life. Do they care at all, absolutely not. So if you care about your business, your gears and your personal life I’d definitely recommend another company.

Avoid this company. Paid insurance on my kit for 6 years and spilt tea on my laptop a few weeks back. I had to pay for the assessment myself, then they finally got back to me and are only covering me £500 with my excess deducted. On a £1700 laptop. And won’t let me leave the policy. The customer service is appalling. Had to deal with so many problems over the years - not sending me documents, automatically renewing policies and now wasting so much time/money on my first ever claim with them.

False advertising and lies. They advertise themselves on RPS website saying they have 10% discount for the members, the problem is there's no way of using the code on the website. If you call them they will tell you that the discount has been "magically" applied already to your quote - which is a lie.

Another thing is that they offer £5 amazon gift cards for new customers, the problem is if you read Terms & Conditions you will find out it's only available between 15th march - 31st August 2021, we have November 2022 right now.

If you put your details on the website but don't buy insurance they will be calling you everyday for a week trying to push you to do it over the phone.

Avoid, there's better and cheaper places to insure camera gear.

Fantastic service from this company yes it's the quotes that take so long. But not photoguards fault.
Had a claim to a drop and had a faultless service from them great company to look after your needs.
