Absolutely useless ‘emergency’ cover contracted out to Sedgwick via this insurer. Called for assistance with a hole in the roof of my home and was required to pay £25 excess immediately before anyone could advise. Tradesmen came out and recommended repair. Insurer decided this wasn’t an ‘emergency’ and declined to provide cover. £25 down and 5 days wasted with a leaking roof?!!
This emergency cover is part of my work based scheme, for which I have paid into significantly for the duration of my employment. It isn’t worth the paper its written on.

This company have group insurance schemes which they pride themselves upon... unfortunately pride is the wrong word!! I have been a member of the group insurance scheme as a Police Officer for Greater Manchester Police all my career and when I retired in January 2023 I remained a member as a retired officer. During my whole career I have only used them on 3 occasions, the first 2 issues were minor plumbing issues, the third was more of an issue. My boiler decided to stop working, no heating and no hot water, please bare in mind I have a disabled wife and we are supposed to be on a vulnerability list to recieve priority treatment/service due to this. I reported the issue via the normal channels and a plumber from Sedgwicks (this is another review, what a disgraceful uncaring shoddy company) came out the following day. I was told he would attend before 12.00, he turned up at 16.00 took a picture of my boiler and said "I will see you sometime in the week" yep he had no intention of looking, touching or examining my boiler at all, I protested about this and he eventually examined the boiler stating it required 2 new parts, he confirmed all would be covered under the insurance he then ordered the parts on an app, told me they would be delivered Monday, today was Saturday, and he would fit them Tuesday. Not ideal but I had to accept this, me and my wife stayed with my daughter as we had no heating or hot water still. The following week nothing happened, basically the plumber who attended lied, he ordered no parts and no one was bothered. I made 14 phonecalls with promises after promises that it will be fixed but no one was interested in my vulnerability issue. My garage where my boiler is where the interaction (lies) with the plumber took place is covered by CCTV recording both visually and audio but no-one was interested in this. I passed all this information onto Philip Williams insurance who's response was"we can't get involved with contractors" I also pointed out that Sedgwicks UK have an appauling reputation backed up by horrendous reviews of 1 stars but their response was "its expected in this business " In essence Philip Williams insurance take your money (£15000,00 roughly in my case throughout my career in monthly subs) and basically do not give a dam when things go wrong, I am disgusted that they have no compassion about the fact that we were left a week with no heating or hot water by a cowboy firm instructed by them and when challenged did nothing. I have been told a complaint has been raised but we are now entering week 4 since this incident and I have had no contact in relation to any complaint.
In essence I have paid for years into a scheme believing I was on a priority list due to vulnerability issues, I was lied to (caught on CCTV) i have evidenced that Sedgwicks are a cowboy firm and was left a week with no hot water or heating but Philip Williams Insurance do not care.

Philip Williams and Co are absolutely useless as they have failed to take responsibility for a company they recommend namely,LIM insurance. In December our boiler failed so we duly contacted LIM insurance who told us they had no access to heating engineers and told us to arrange our own and they would cover costs. At this time it was minus 5 degrees outside. we managed to get an engineer within 2 hours who came out and fixed the boiler . We forwarded the details with an invoice and asked for reimbursement for the costs but to date LIM have failed to pay. When we complained to Philip Williams we were told ‘We are just the brokers and therefore it’s not our responsibility’ . They are using this company for their policy holders but have clearly failed to assess their ability to function as a legal legitimate company. CHECK TRUSTPILOT for reviews of this company they are not fit for purpose and I’m appalled that police forces are using Philip Williams when they clearly are not using due diligence in allowing LIM insurance to operate under their name. I’d advise all policy holders to question Philip Williams about their policies and read all reviews on TRUSTPILOT. My husband will be cancelling his subscription forthwith.

I have been with Philip Williams travel insurance for over 20 years. Unlike any other company or organisation I need to contact I.e. Bank, Mortgage, Pension, HMRC etc you get to speak promptly to a competent and helpful human being when you phone them. I have just sorted out an extended holiday and it took moments. No “ your call is important but we are going to keep you waiting for 40 minutes”. Annual re insurance and payment etc is always in plenty of time and fully explained.
