A gorgeous sea side hotel - with hospitality at the heart of everything they do. Staff cannot do enough to make your stay effortless- great bar with real open fire, super food and breakfasts bespoke to how you like it. Nothing is too much trouble. Bedrooms are spacious and beds so comfortable. Conveniently located by the seafront. Car parking included. We will keep coming back. Thank you.

We recently stayed at The Royal Lion Hotel in Lyme Regis, drawn in by its brilliant location and the promise of a pool for our children. While we appreciate that it is a historic building with unavoidable quirks like creaky floors, our overall experience was disappointing. The beds were uncomfortable and old and an odd smell was present. ||||The biggest issue was the noise—guests returning late at night made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Cleanliness was also lacking; we found hair bands with hair left on them in the bathroom and even on the bed, which was off-putting. While we understand that mistakes happen, attention to detail in housekeeping should be a priority.||||The TV in our room was glitchy and didn’t work properly, which we didn’t report but hope has since been addressed. However, the most frustrating part was the pool situation. We specifically booked the hotel for its pool, only to be told upon arrival that the only available slots were 8 PM and 9 AM neither of which were neither of which were feasible for us with two young children as were booked in for breakfast at 8am!||||Breakfast was another letdown. Despite informing staff of dietary requirements (nut allergy and coeliac), there was no gluten-free option available no GF bread, and even no sausages. Given the growing awareness around dietary needs, this was disappointing and felt like an afterthought rather than a genuine effort to accommodate guests.||||To top it off, we overheard staff talking about other guests, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Having worked in the travel industry myself, I know how important guest experience is, and unfortunately, this stay fell short on multiple levels.||||I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless changes are made to improve cleanliness, service, and communication. A great location alone isn’t enough to make up for these shortcomings.

This hotel is really lovely… slightly rough around the edges but that is what I loved.|Bedroom had a cosy vibe…. We had everything we needed…. Plenty of tea and coffee and a balcony with a sea view… helped because we had lovely weather. The staff were brilliant … all named ‘allergy’ … made me laugh but means they take allergies seriously which is important.|And the breakfast was super… |The swimming pool we had our own slot… the pool was a great temperature, not cold and hot tub hot and bubbly.||All in all we had a relaxed uncomplicated trip… kind atmosphere… and we need to support our hotels!! Loved it and will return.

Had a lovely Sunday dinner, dog was welcome and staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Also dropped in for a drink and had a lovely evening. We will be back and would recommend to anyone visiting Lyme Regis.

As a returning guest, I am pleased to say that it's still every bit as good as it was last time. I had a small but very quiet and comfortable room with all the usual facilities and a first-class heating system. There was a great selection of tea/coffee and toiletries, free car parking and WiFi. Breakfast is as it should be; table service for a first-class full English breakfast and cereals, fruit juices and all the continental breakfast requirements on a central table. I ate in the bar in the evenings where there was a well-tended log fire and comfortable seating. The food was just what was needed after a winter's day exploring the area; an interesting selection, well-cooked and presented. The staff were polite and professional and made one feel welcome.

I look forward to returning many times in the future.

After 40 years of coming to the hotel this time is the last I suspect. We came here for our honeymoon and , especially in the last 20 years, we have come here for between 5-20 days each year. We quickly nipped here for the night last night. We booked the swimming pool before we got there - essential to get a space although sauna still not working.|Room 7 - worst nights sleep we have ever had there as bed seems to have problems -broken? Very old? , not sure but very uncomfortable.|The menu they advertised outside and in the room was incorrect and we were told 'we don't do that on Sundays!'. But it didn't matter as every time we asked for something they said they had run out. Ended up having to go to the pilot where we had a lovely meal with caring staff .|Receptionist on Sunday!!!!!!!|Always loved it here and up to now have embraced the changes you have made but if you advertise|1. food then it should be available |2. 'comfy' room then it should be - over the years we have been in many rooms | We have always loved each stay and hoped for family ruby wedding celebrations to be here but not now.😭 . ||I expect to get a trite reply from manager as I see from other reviews rather than addressing concerns

A wonderful night spent here. Watching the white waves and listening to the gusts of Storm Bert, from our balcony.
Excellent service, spotlessly clean room and fantastic food. Super comfy bed and gorgeous bathroom.
We ate in the bar as the restaurant was full and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend the fillet steak and the Hake. Can’t wait to eat here again and stay for that matter! Breakfast was lovely too, with great service.
We’ll be back xx
