I've been to the recycling tip at Meltham this morning. It's well set out and signposted, I noted they have swopped the entrance and exit around , with a helpful worker directing you in. I can honestly say after hearing a few negative reviews that the guys running the centre are extremely helpful, happy and polite. I can't recommend the refuge centre highly enough. Excellent service 👏 😊

I had found the staff very helpful previously. However on Sunday 2.3.25. I arrived 5 minutes before closing having got delayed in traffic. The chap at the gate was very grumpy, abrupt and at one point I thought he was going to swear. Insisted I could not drop off a couple of small items. I pleaded with him and said it did not say the gates close early on the website. He verrrrry begrudgingly let me drop the items (took less than 30 seconds!) but boy did he make me feel told off and embarrassed. Never had that experience before. He said he was one of the managers. Despite me being polite, friendly and smiling I got such a miserable response! I would have given 1 star but tried to be more generous as previously had a more positive experience. Please be nice and reasonable, no need to be so unprofessional in your communication style. If you close the gates earlier than closing time on website please be explicit about it to customers who might have got misled. You took more time telling me off and declining my requests than the actual time it took to drop the items! Just be nicer please it doesn’t cost anything and remember you represent your whole team when you represent yourself.

Your employee KASS is always helpful polite and unassuming. He deserves the highest praise. After an extremely long wait to enter the site, KASS helped to diffuse our annoyance at the council’s cost cutting closure of the site on Mondays and Tuesdays, leading to long frustrating waits.
KASS and the guys who put in all the hard work deserve recognition.

The layout has been redesigned and is much better now. The staff have always been helpful, friendly and pleasant. A great place....

Saturday afternoon- 4 staff. Cars enter single file, Long queues stretching around the corner. When I finally enter I notice there are at least 50% of the bays empty. The only bays with cars in are the garden waste and cardboard.
If customers are too stupid or too lazy to walk a few meters, then someone should take responsibility of designating a parking bay.
Surely the idea is to get cars in and out as quickly and efficiently as possible. Someone should explain this to staff who can then explain it to the ignorant customers

EDIT: Firstly, thank you Chloe for your reply, even though it appears they were empty words.
I have since returned and the situation is sadly no better. You cannot allow unnecessary queues to form! Of course I understand that at certain times and days waiting to unload is inevitable, but all bays must be used. Yes, it’s a bonus if you manage to reverse into the bay that is appropriate to you, but if occupied the customer MUST be directed to another bay. It’s not rocket science. OK, I realise that your staff may not be the most articulate, but surely even they can direct the cars to a free bay.
If the customer declines to understand then they are, as mentioned previously, either stupid or selfish, but neither must be tolerated.

Great guys at the disposal point,however why the hell are you closed on a Monday and Tuesday?
This is part of the ongoing issue of fly tipping!!
The sooner privatisation is reversed the better! Shame on you SUEZ putting obviously profit before the environment!

The guy called Sean what an absolute idiot point blank reused for us to use the tip we offerd a solution and the guy was a straight out jobs worth we had hired a van for the day didn’t have anything much to move just bits and bats absolutely joke and that guy what a joke

Great place to recycle but only downside is the wait. States no commercial vans or trades but always see them when dropping off items to recycle
