Great service for Buybacks. They were so helpful as I am a regular customer, they didn't even need to check all my items and gave me a very good price for a buyback, trusting I would come back; which I did. Very friendly staff and helped us get my items to the front door.
They have a good selection of media, tools, Phones, jewellery, Video Games, consoles, bicycles, televisions and other miscellaneous items.

Title: A Company That Preys on the Desperate – Avoid MoneyMaker

I’ve had more than one bad experience with MoneyMaker, and I’ve finally had enough. I’ve given them chances, stayed quiet when I shouldn’t have, even deleted a previous bad review just to be fair. But looking back now, I realise they’ve been using me—and probably many others—like an abusive partner. I’m done.

I once bought a first-gen iPad from them just because I wanted to watch YouTube. They said it would work fine. Got it home—completely outdated, useless. Couldn’t do anything with it. When I took it back, they said they don’t sell outdated stuff. Right...

Another time I bought a smart TV. I asked if YouTube would work on it. ā€œYeah, yeah, yeah,ā€ they said. Got it home—browser outdated, no updates, YouTube completely broken. Took it back, explained the issue clearly, and instead of owning it, they spent 20 minutes pretending to troubleshoot something I already knew was dead. Just wasting time, avoiding responsibility.

Then came the last straw. I tried to sell a laptop I paid Ā£700 for. Someone on the phone told me it was worth between Ā£300–£500. Fair enough, I thought. When I took it in? Offered me Ā£80. I brought up what was said on the phone, and the guy got defensive, saying, ā€œWe don’t give valuations over the phone.ā€ Just more lies, more inconsistency.

And let’s not forget the time they stole the remote off me. I brought it in with a TV, and they made out like I brought the wrong remote, twisting it all to look like my mistake. Eventually, even the boss had to admit fault and refund me for a new remote—but only after a load of hassle.

Even the manager has lied to me before. The whole place is full of contradictions, lowball offers, and shady tactics. They act like they’re helping people out, but really they just take advantage of those who are struggling.

I’ve come to realise these people are not worth your time, your money, or your trust. If you're desperate, they know it—and they’ll use it against you.

I won't be stepping foot in there again. I’d rather go without.

Update: They once offered me Ā£80 for a laptop, claiming they "don’t get much for laptops these days." I already knew I’d get lowballed—it’s not my first time being desperate and out of options—but what really got to me was the sheer dishonesty. After telling me that, I looked over and saw a laptop in their display case priced at Ā£700. So don’t tell me you "don’t get much" when you’re clearly turning massive profits off people who are already down.

It’s not just shady—it’s abusive. You walk in knowing you're going to be taken for a ride, but you hope there’s at least a shred of decency. There isn’t. Not from the staff, not from the boss—who, by the way, knew who I was from a previous review and still tried to spin more lies instead of fixing things. That tells you everything.

The whole place thrives on taking advantage of people who are struggling. And the laptop was the final straw. It confirmed what I already felt deep down: that they’ll smile to your face, lie through their teeth, and squeeze every penny they can out of you without a second thought.

Unfortunately in the last few weeks this business has dropped off, they don't pay as much as cex for items and sell over 100% of what they buy it for I went in with a brand new console and they offered over £115 less that cex where offering for it, in the end I sold for £200 as I didn't want to wait at cex, when I went back the week after they had it for sale for nearly £400, when they told me they couldn't buy for more than £200 as they couldn't sell for much more than £250, why lie the console was brand new!! I advise people just to sell any consoles or TVs to CEX they are more honest they show you on their website what they will give you and what they sell for there is no TRANSPARENCY with this company at all complete rip off avoid

My first experience was I walked in (very desperate) and the lady was very far from customer service orientated no smiles no talking moaning at the older guy because he should of told me to go and come back after they tested treats everyone like they are children doing chores for her, I was low balled now i paid 150 on a Pandora necklace that’s limited edition which they offered 10Ā£ for my peiceand a second peice which was a very tiny necklace that came with the original brought Pandora (literally 10Ā£ altogether) for me to walk out and see how much they selling them for, Amazon tablets a fiver a week later I took to cash generator in western super mare and got Ā£20 for the exact same tablet so shows how much they are low balling everyone,

The second time i realised they don’t give you what you deserve I found a very clever tactic they use ā€œhow much you looking forā€ not knowing the worth I said a low amount of what I needed at least for them to go yeah we can do that no checking if they can do more etc even though where I used to go used to give Ā£30 on top of what they gave so very clever sales tactic they say they thinking of you but they not they hoping you don’t buy it back so there profit is higher

The only time I have had a pleasant experience was when I went in to buy a tv surprise that isn’t it

Reason for 2 stars

1 star for the fact they actually a clean looking shop
1 star for the 2 very nice decent guys 1 of which when I brought the tv actually had a very genuine way about himself and spoke to me like a proper person , the other guy normally serves me and atleast is respectful as a person just needs to learn valuation better and have the shop competiton with other places it’s very quite in there compared to a cash generator/converters you’d think the owners/management would pull there fingers and find out what they doing wrong with how much people are around Taunton that will travel to western super mare or Exeter if they able to , for myself money maker was my go to only because I couldn’t afford to get to somewhere with better prices and seems like money makers are taking advantage of this

I took some gold to sell,Ben was the man i spoke to very friendly and he gave me a price that he was willing to pay.I said i wanted to get another place to give me there price. It was £250 less then what ben offered me.So i sold it to ben at a price i was very happy with.So when i read that they rip you off with there prices i totally disagree i got the best price and the service from Ben was top class.
