My accountant, Jimmy Brooke at Clever Accounts is the most amazing accountant. He is speedy, knowledgeable, professional, polite, super friendly, overall nice guy, flexible, pro-active and always punctual to our regular review meetings. It is super easy to arrange a 15min / 30min catch-up with him over the telephone or via Teams. If I ever have a quick query, I just send him an e-mail & is it almost immediately answered with options of what to do, steps to take and excellent advice. He gives me the highest level of support and service you could ever expect from your accountant. He gets 10 stars out of 5 from me for the entire period he has supported me. Was with a nightmare accountant and wanted to switch with a deferred start date because I hadn't finished with the existing accountant. They said that was fine, signed me up and then assigned me with an accountant. Thought that's normal, until the accountant contacted me wanting to complete the sign up and start the service, she was totally unaware of the deferred date situation, and wanted to check with a manager that this was acceptable to do. Then nothing from her for months and we had past the initial date I wanted to start. Then she was expecting me to pay from the moment we had our previous conversation and I had been billed for that time. I did not agree with this as I hadn't even used any services, or even had a log in for their platform. Again, she needed to check with a manager and get back to me. And again, she did not.

I ended up chasing this and trying to get this completed, and surprise surprise, the 3 calls and conversations I had with someone else were not followed up either. Including one from yesterday where a quote for some additional services was supposed to be sent to me. These sort of problems is why I wanted to leave my original accountant, and they seem to operate in the exact same way, poor communication and not getting back to clients.

Hasnain is amazing! He took the initiative to apply for loss relief after making my COTAX submission on my behalf.

I woke up this morning to an unexpected refund of over £2000 thanks to his hard work. The best surprise ever - especially as things have been very tight financially recently.

This was going above and beyond as it shows massive initiative. It's also clear that to do to this, Hasnain has a very in depth knowledge of the taxation systems and available reliefs.

This single action has not only paid my accountancy fees for the entire year - it's also paid my mortage this month at a time when I was starting to consider looking for pound coins behind the settee.

Proof of the pudding that paying a good accountant is worth its weight in gold and it actually pays for itself!
