I was recommended Holden’s by my dad, who is also a surveyor. They were prompt getting in touch after my initial enquiry and their documents were clear when advising which survey to go for. Michael was incredibly informative and ensured I was aware of each step in the process. On the day of the survey I received a call to confirm he was on his way, along with a follow up call after his visit to share the overall findings (I was even sent some images ahead of the official report). I received the survey around a week later. The report was clear and had numerous images to make each statement easy to understand as a FTB. It also had potential costings to help renegotiate the price of the house I was purchasing. Would 100% recommend - a reliable business, with kind and helpful staff. Thanks Michael!

Brandon carried out a thorough level 3 survey on a property for us. The survey report was very detailed and included helpful photos including drone pictures. As well as being thorough it was also easy to understand. The report clearly helped us to identify the next steps we needed to take. Brandon also took the time to go through the report with both myself and my husband separately over the phone and was very patient. We both found it beneficial to be able to chat through some issues with him.

We were very happy we selected Holdens for our survey in Ambleside. They were available at short notice and we were impressed with the quality, thoroughness and pragmatic advice Mat gave verbally and included in the formal survey. It really helped to visualise things to have so many photographs, including the drone pictures of the roof. It has given us a very clear plan of short and medium term maintenance that needs to be done to keep the property in good order.

We recently had a Level 3 survey carried out by Holdens Chartered Surveyors, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. Mat was incredibly professional and accommodating — his report was detailed, thorough, and highlighted key issues that required further investigation. It gave us a clear understanding of the property’s condition and helped us make an informed decision.

A special shout-out to Martin as well, who took the time to help us understand the value of the property. His insights were extremely helpful and much appreciated.

The staff at the branch were also fantastic — very responsive and helpful over email. All in all, a smooth and professional experience. Highly recommended!

We found Holdens Chartered Surveyors, Kendal to be professional and responsive . Our first conversation with Bill Holden which set out the different services that Holdens could offer was very clear. Whilst we would have loved a comprehensive survey of everything that could lead to a planned maintenance schedule, for budgetary reasons we settled for a specific defects report. This proved to be comprehensive and we are satisfied with the quality of the report which,we feel made justified, not excessive repair recommendations. Reading the terms and conditions took a little time and paying in advance can create some anxiety. However the surveyor turned up as planned, admin arrangements went very smoothly , with Holdens making all the necessary arrangements, ( very appreciated) and the report whilst not issued within their exact timescale was nevertheless presented in a timely manner . We are very pleased we retained this firm and are likely to engage further work from them. I should also note that all the members of the admin team we encountered were efficient and courteous.

We had a very good experience with Bill and the rest of the team at Holden's. They were easy to contact and flexible in arranging to visit our slightly unusual target property. We had a level 3 survey performed quickly and returned to us ahead of the date that they promised. We then had a very useful follow up call with Bill which gave us extra colour and context on the report to help us understand what actions we had to take. Would definitely use this team again.

Holdens carried out a homebuyers level 2 survey for me , I rang them and paid the invoice and they arranged with the estate agents when they could go and see the property.
The process was fairly easy, it took about a week for the report to get back to me and highlighted issues on a scale of 1-3.
