Just to update that my mum had to be moved into nursing care after four years at Abbott House. The staff there have been a wonderful support throughout a difficult process. This is a gem of a care home and I would not hesitate in recommending it. I think what is good is it doesn't have a high turnover of staff like other care homes. The manager Julie is highly respected by staff and visitors and goes that extra mile for people. The same supervisory staff were in place for mum's four years at Abbott House so we had continuity of care. I think if the staff like working somewhere then that speaks volumes. We could not fault mum's care. They also looked after my elderly father with such kindness when he visited. He cried when mum had to be moved because he will miss the staff greatly.

This place has really been a home from home for my mother. She has been there for over two years now. The first care home mum went into was a posh newly built one, but the care she received was not up to standard. We moved her to Abbott House after a couple of weeks. It is a smaller, less fancy care home, but it is so clean and the residents are so well cared for. The management seem to take great care in selecting staff which really impacts the level of care given. They have gone to great lengths to support my elderly father who still lives alone and visits my mother three times a week. They have given me some really great advice and support which has been invaluable. It can feel very lonely trying to deal with health professionals and the care system and I really feel so supported by all the team at Abbott House. My mum is normally smiling away when we visit her. To begin with she used to hide away in her room but she is always out in the communal areas now. This care home has much more of a family feel than others I have visited. We know most of the staff and the faces don't seem to change frequently, the staff seem very happy and happy staff means happy residents. I would highly recommend. Thank you Abbott House, you have been such a help to our family.
