Got a level 3 building survey done with Allcott. Comparatively shorter wait (2-3 weeks Vs 4-6 weeks with other survey companies). It was also one of the more reasonably priced surveys ~£860 or so.

The survey showed that the render was needing replaced, and the surveyor got back to us very quickly regarding the ambiguities in the survey wording.

In short, we would use them again for our next survey.

Do not use this firm, I phoned to get a structural engineer to help diagnose and give guidance to a roof issue I had regards a lintel beam over window of a bungalow bending as made from wood and causing lounge window not to open. I said neighbour had similar problem and said had to replace beam from wood to steel. David ALLCOTT attended address and I told him this and he then looked all around and produced a report saying what the problem was and that I needed the beam changed to steel and how much this would cost. however, he missed all key details to say to a builder. They need dimensions, type and size of beam recommended to fix the problem. When I contacted to say he didn't supply this, response I didn't ask for this and would cost £300 to come out again or I can measure myself and they would produce report for £95. This was why we called to get a professional to give advice and how to sort out the problem, clearly this should have been included in the original report and he should have told us this would be needed at attendance to pass to a builder.

So we have paid nearly £500 for a report saying exactly what I told them the issue was and them saying "You need to replace to steel beam" I knew this already. And when complained replied that on original call I said "Problem with flat roof. They had work done & there are leaks & do not think roof is watertight" Total fabricated lies! I don't have a flat roof, no issues with leaks and never mentioned any of these words to anyone.
As picture below shows, issue was slight dip in roof tiles over window causing soffits to lower slightly and window not being able to be opened fully.

Totally unprofessional, untrustworthy and inadequate service provided. Avoid at all costs.
