Great service, was told from the start that the tracking may not sort my van pulling to the left but it did. Also my aftermarket wheels meant that the weights were not in the best place but they still managed to sort out the steering wheel wobble. Would highly recommend this ATS center.

Im very happy with the service provided.
I pre booked my car in for a wheel alignment, the online booking process was really easy! I went to the Westhoughton branch.
Dropped my car off, I was asked if i was waiting or calling back, I was happy to call back. On completion I was called to say my car was ready! On arrival for collection the mechanic advised me of the adjustments completed & off I went!! The gentleman who dealt with me was very helpful.
I'm very happy with my experience of using ATS and would certainly use them again!

Avoid, AVOID, AVOID!!!!

Arrived first thing as requested to drop my van and keys off for two new tyres, 6 members of staff stood behind desk refused to take my keys saying they wasn't open, yet all them are stood there in work - "best customer care" written on the wall - what a joke!

The staff thought it hilarious to laugh at me behind glass and make derogative hands signs to me - see pic below

Did consider a 2 star score but on reflection, that would be too generous.

Booked in for 2 tyres changing and 4 wheel alignment. Arrived in good time to the branch, met by a member of staff, a gentleman in his 40s. No issues with him or his service. Took my details, checked me in, confirmed I was waiting whilst they did the job and overall was friendly with myself and the other customers who passed through. This is where it goes pear shaped.

Another member of staff, a much younger male, took my vehicle and began changing the tyres and checking the tracking. An hour later it was ready and it was him who came to do the handover. I say handover. It was literally muttering a few words at me, giving me my keys back and getting me to sign for the job. A very cold handover, almost like I’d done something for him to begrudge myself. He did say I’d get all the paperwork over email, I assumed this included a report for the tracking.

I drive home, go to inspect the wheels to make sure there’s nothing untoward. Fantastic - missing dust caps for both front wheels. It wasn’t worth the 30 min round trip/fuel to get them to replace the dust caps when I had some at home which cost pennies. Shortly after an email arrives with the job details. No mention of what the tracking results were or what adjustments were made. I knew the tracking had been done as I saw the technician do it. So far, just a bit of a bad experience but not the end of the world. If nothing else went wrong, I wouldn’t bother complaining or writing this review. However, this was just the beginning.

The following weekend I go on the motorway, notice that front wheels are making a rumble at speed. I checked to make sure the wheel bolts were tight (which you should always do 100 miles after the wheels are refitted) - no issues. Weekend after, I go back on the motorway, the juddering at speed was still there. So I had to find a garage to take a look. It seems both front wheels had been balanced incorrectly. They both had fresh balancing weights fitted by ATS but once they had been rebalanced, using different sized weights, the car was completely transformed and back to how it was before I had the tyres changed. At this point I raised a complaint with ATS, as I was effectively having to pay to get the wheels balanced twice, once incorrectly by ATS and then again by a competent garage. After a bit of back and forth, ATS refunded the balancing part of my bill.

I had noticed one of the wheels which ATS changed the tyre on seemed to be losing air very slowly. Maybe it was just an unfortunate coincidence and I’d picked a screw/nail up since having the tyres changed. Who was I kidding, it was just more incompetency from ATS. I took the car to another garage as I away from home, they decided to reseal the tyre in case the wheels hadn’t been cleaned up properly. Turns out the edge of the wheel had been cleaned up, it was only when they went to remove the tyre valve did it come to light that when ATS had done this, they hadn’t retightened the valve properly. My vehicle uses a clamp on TPMS valve, so has a retaining nut which attaches the valve and pressure sensor to the wheel. It was that loose it could be undone with finger pressure. The garage resealed the wheel/tyre and ensured the valve was tightened back up to spec - lo and behold, the tyre stopped losing pressure. I’ve waited a few weeks to make sure it was indeed the valve being loose which resulted in the pressure loss and I can confirm the tyre is holding pressure fine.

Now I appreciate I never went back to the branch for them to put things right but I just didn’t have the chance to do so. Even then, based on the number of failings, I’d rather they didn’t touch my car at all. To think ATS is owned by the tyre brand Michelin, you’d expect a better service throughout. Guess I’ll stick to Costco next time.

I’m sure the usual response will appear apologising for my experience and stating any formal complaint will be responded to. Which goes to show you how much they really care about the feedback received…

I hate to be this person but I had a very difficult time at this garage.

Over the last 6 months I've had my pride and joy restored. Part of the restoration saw all of the suspension and subframes replaced. For this reason, my mechanic stated the importance of getting a full alignment done, as even though the new components were set to the same length as the ones that came off, the cars geometry would be off.

To address the rear tracking feebles of the Focus MK2 / Volvo P1 platform (running excessive camber and toe in with age). My vehicle had been fitted with adjustable upper control arms and toe arms. This ensured that the alignment of the vehicle could be dialed in perfectly to factory specifications.

When entering ATS West Houghton, I asked a staff member at the desk if I could please talk to the mechanic to discuss these elements of adjustability added to the car to ensure they were aware. Unfortunately this is where I was met with a very condescending response, I won't go into details what was said. But the main thing was that the car would be able to be put to 'factory specification'. I know this was not true however it was impossible to convince the staff.

Thankfully the mechanic put the car on the ramp to attempt the alignment, however after adjusting one thing which wasn't one of the added elements of adjustability that I made them aware of. The mechanic then said, and unsurprisingly that the car was not behaving as they expected and gave up without using the arms that had been added.

In fact all the mechanic had done was make the alignment drastically worse on the wheel they had touched. So much to the point they said I had a dangerous vehicle and sent me on my way.. in a frantic search for help, I found a Kwik fit who was willing to do the alignment and I limped the poorly tracking vehicle to Warrington.

The alignment was so bad the car was 'crabbing' on the motorway and the tyres were squealing.

After 30 minutes, Kwik fit had my car perfectly aligned minus the camber on one wheel due to poor access. THANKYOU KWIK FIT! Car is now safe.

The staff on the desk were courteous and efficient. Got the call as soon as the work was done. Some of the staff were the same as previous visits - perhaps from a year or more ago - which suggests the company treats it's staff well.
