My partner and I are off on a motorbike trip for 4 months to Morocco/Europe and we have been searching for insurance to cover us for the duration of the trip. I contacted Big Cat Travel insurance and was spoken to by a very polite and professional staff member called Theo. Theo was very patient and discussed with me different policy options that best suited us. At no point did I feel like I was being upsold anything (I have found this a common practice with most insurers). The whole process was very efficient and the end result was a very reasonably priced quote.

I have been purchasing travel insurance for motorbike trips for the past 10 years and I would suggest this was by far the most effective and professional company I have worked with. If anyone is in the market for travel insurance I would give Big Cat Travel Insurance a call! You will not be disappointed!

Honestly i am so impressed with Big Cat, it is usually an absolute pain to do a claim and not only do they make it SO easy it is also insanely quick. I had my claim done and paid in a week - honestly flabbergasted. I started using them because they provide great (and reasonable) insurance when you are already travelling, which can end up super pricey. I am going to use them for any and all trips going forward. I recently used Big Cat for a three month trip to Asia and must say the service I received has been excellent.

The options for your coverage were great, particularly that you didn't need an end date which was perfect for me Backpacking. And could purchase further options based on your activities. (E.g. I got coverage for some watersports)

Whilst away I got second degree burns during one week, and then a chest infection about 2 months later (rotten luck for me I know).

However, the process of making a claim was straightforward and simple, with both going through with ease. Naturally you need to make sure you collect the relevant documents (med reports, receipts etc...) but regardless both claims came through within a couple weeks making it all nice and easy.

It all goes through their partner company, but still very smooth.

Brilliant experience. Chris has been unbelievably helpful when I had malaria and was admitted to ICU in SA. My Dad was able to speak to him and was put at ease with the cover and personal professionalism they offered.

They were always on the end of the phone/email if ever you had a query and although the claims process took a little longer due to the complexity I was more than satisfied by the all round experience.

I would highly recommend using them, I travel with horses and do a various number of their extreme adventure package so in my opinion they are very competitive and good value for money. I have recommended them to others and all have been throughly impressed by the cover and simplicity of service. Thank you!

We have just had to come home from our travels early as my partner has faced continuous health issues whilst we have been abroad.

We planned 6months of travelling, we went to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia. My partner started facing health issues in Cambodia, we saw many doctors in all the countries we visited as noone could properly figure out what was wrong. We visited a hospital who recommended us going home as the health issues had been happening for so long at this point (4months).

We informed the insurance and they flew us home from Sydney Australia back to Manchester within 2 days notice. We also received all our payments (minus excess) we made to doctors in foreign countries back within a few weeks of making a claim.

Overall we are so glad we chose this company to go with for our backpacker insurance as we have been so stressed throughout the situation but knowing that we didn't have to worry about paying for healthcare was so much help.

Absolutely highly recommend to anyone going for extended travel, you never know what will happen abroad.

This company backed by one of the Worlds biggest insurers, Allianz , has to be one of the most inefficient and disorganised I have ever encountered. A friend of ours is in Bali with a parasitic infection and has been trying to get support for over 4 months . Allianz send loads of emails from different addresses with different names and are just ineffectual at providing the exact support which they purport to offer through Big Cat i.e. to global travellers who are not returning to the UK regularly.

The fact that Allianz have bought the previously excellent LV is a major concern.

This is a company to avoid .

The problem is that Big Cats, like many policies, has it's claims processed by CSAL - Claims Settlement Agencies Ltd - whose sole purpose is to obfuscate and delay and find every reason not to pay.
