This is really hard to rate. The people who processed my claim were great. The process itself, which in the end required between 10 and 15 pieces of documentary and photographic evidence to replace stolen bicycle wheels was bizarre and seemed entirely designed to discourage customers from ever making a claim. Having paid premiums every month for three years, I was determined not to give up, but the whole process is not for the faint-hearted ...... The three stars represent the median of five for the people and one for the product.

Bike was stolen from outside a gym. Locked with a lock recommended by Bikmo.
Had the insurance for many years and it was an utter waste of money.i almost paid as much as I insurd this custom bike for.
They didn’t get back to me for weeks even though I chased them a few time to give me a response and Ive spent money hiring bikes daily to commute to work.
Be careful with custom bikes and directly upload all receipts (incl. from the lock) as they are needed (probably only accepting new bikes)! I was assured I am covered with everything I uploaded in the first place years ago (got the bike from eBay). When it’s gets stolen they suddenly want more documentation and receipts!! All the years I thought I am covered I probably wasn’t - I paid money for nothing as it seams. No answer for weeks now!! But Friday I got an automatic email that the insurance is renewing. I called but couldn’t get someone on the phone.
So far, really disappointed!!

From sign up to claiming Bikmo has been great. I signed up when I registered my bike with bikeregister hoping that would be enough to deter thieves. It wasn't, but registering was straightforward, and making a claim when the attempted robbery happened was the same.

The team were in constant communication with me and responded promptly. Responding was as easy as sending an email. This is a must if you have an ebike. Thanks again Bikmo!

The claims people were excellent and very understanding of the process and any problems. They knew of all the information that needed to be included and made the correspondence very clear.
The only problem I came up with was the emails getting back to them - sometimes they seemed to be put to the back of the queue at times.

Initially, Bikmo appeared to be the best option for bike insurance. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, which instills confidence. Unfortunately, the problems start when you need to file a claim. Bikmo is essentially a front for Hiscox, and dealing with claims reveals their true nature.

My bike was stolen by someone who removed the bike rack using specialized tools. Hiscox refused to pay the claim, arguing that the bike rack could be undone. Following that rationale, any bike rack can be undone with the right tools, making this excuse entirely unreasonable.

I had to appeal their decision four times. It was only when I threatened to go to the Financial Ombudsman that they accepted the claim. Even then, they tried to shortchange me by £500 less than the insured value. Once you have a claim, you deal directly with Hiscox, and the friendly customer service of Bikmo becomes a distant memory. Instead, be prepared to fight against the penny-pinching bureaucracy of Hiscox.

Despite eventually receiving payment, the process was long and stressful. I recommend looking for other insurance options. The ordeal with Bikmo and Hiscox was not worth the hassle.
