I was referred to David Snelling of Charlton House by a professional contact for advice on what to do with some old UK retirement policies I contributed to in the 1980s before moving overseas. Although the amounts involved were modest, David provided a highly efficient, thorough and personalized service. He and his colleagues followed through on the transfer process with the original providers, who seemed determined to make the process as painful as possible, to a successful conclusion, consolidating a number of separate policies with different providers (including legacy London Life and Equitable Life policies which were basically dormant) into a more flexible vehicle with some potential for growth.
I was particularly impressed with the time, care and attention devoted by David to getting to know me, including my financial position, risk appetite and financial goals, and the clarity of his advice - whilst KYC and suitability of advice are of course cornerstones of the regulatory regime, it is depressing how many IFAs pay them cursory attention at best.
