Tried cancelling my services for a contract which expired in the first week of July of this year was given a contact email address by two different representatives.

The email was returned undelivered

Over the many years with them the service has been good but trying to cancel has taken three phone calls with three different people, each one seemingly to not know what the others had told me.

Possibly outsourced to S. Africa, each of the people I spoke to told me that it was not their department, so shirking responsibility.

Is Clearbusiness a bit like a crime syndicate; once you're in, you're never out?

Avoid Clear Business – Unfair Contract and Ridiculous Termination Fee

I regret ever signing up with Clear Business. When I decided to leave, I was shocked to be hit with a termination fee of over £1000 – despite only paying £15 per month for my card terminal rental.

This fee is completely disproportionate and feels like a punishment for leaving. The contract terms are buried in fine print, and there was no clear warning about automatic renewals or the outrageous early exit penalties. It feels like they’re holding me to ransom just for trying to leave a service I no longer need.

Customer service has been unhelpful and dismissive, simply quoting the contract without any willingness to compromise. I will be raising a formal complaint and will escalate to the Financial Ombudsman and Trading Standards if nothing gets resolved.

If you’re a small business owner, do not trust this company. Check every line of the contract—and even then, think twice. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Absolutely awful company to deal with. Very quick to set you up and do not give you a full breakdown at all of any fees and costs, as soon as you have to complete checks you are logged out of your account and charged weekly non compliance fees, however fees then also increase dramatically, when you try to cancel and terminate your contract, which you are within your rights to do, you just get ignored and continuously charged. Then told it’s not them you have to cancel with even though that’s what they adviced you have to when you start your contract. I have had an unresolved issue with these guys since April and had to report them to the financial ombudsmen.

Shocking!!!!
I was originally with Kinex who was great and had electric and phone/broadband but Clear Business took over their contracts my fixed price electricity contract start going up, once my contract was electric contact was up i moved supplier and the very next month my phone and broadband bill doubled from £44 to £96. i had 8 months left of a 3 year on phone contract and they want £2500 to cancel early so ive had to stick with them but not mu contract is up they are telling me i have to pay the remainder of the term of my previous contract from 2022 because they signed me into a new 3 year contract before my old contract with them had finished and to cancel it now even though my contract states my contract is finished on the 15/7/2025 they want £1300 to terminate contract before 11/9/2025 which they cannot supply with any evidence that this is when my contract is up! when you change supplier or renew contract they always buy the remainder of your previous contract to get you to sign up to a longer contract with them now my previous contract that end in 2022 was with them! Shocking, disgusting and i will be taking legal action against them, they are doing it to too many people and getting away with it but not this time!

We are appaulled by this company. We did not have phone lines for 6 weeks and subsequently lost business sales so we decided to leave and go with a new provider. Due to the delay in setting up the new provider, we agreed to pay out of contract which was to the 31st May.
Today, despite having having informed them on numerous occasions that we had terminated due their poor service they are now trying to charge us £300 for June and July. My last conversation with their accounts team I was that this would not happen.....DO NOT USE ❌

Not with the company with a card machine terminal cancelled so many times yet still getting bills, you get through to departments then transferred to cancellations who are not interested in listening they hang up the call , being in buisness is tuff without having the time these people have making you call back to do nothing again, but they make it easy to access letters to issue you default summary’s and letters pay the bill !! (ACTUALLY LISTENING WOULD HELP WE DONT USE YOURSELVES AND GET YOUR STAFF TO CARRY OUT COMMON SENSE LOOK AT TRANSACTIONS HISTORY NOTHING OVER 12 MONTHS) yet today received another letter pay this as we have issued a default if this gets issued then system is corrupted because common sense is not being prevailed in this company! And staff need to read all the notes and amounts attempts have been made to close this account down which clear business are purposely not doing to bully and threaten business against the credit score thinking pressure here will get them to pay a false figure they say is owing !! There should be authority’s in place to stop this pressure from these people especially when they have clearly admitted they are in the wrong my customer ref for clear buisness to contact me in relation to this review if I could have scored lower I would through time wasting is cb2033377 I’ll look forward to your call

I was with Unicom which changed to Clear Business for several years.
One of the issues is with the sheer volume of sales calls I got during my time with them, even after requesting to be removed from their call list, all about other services they offered. I ended up blocking their number from my mobile.
I never had an issue with the actual physical phoneline itself which is why I stayed with them, although I am sure I could have got it cheaper elsewhere.
When I did close my business earlier this year I rang them about 10 weeks before the last day of occupancy to let them know, and they said to ring back exactly a month before the final day, and even gave me a date and said it could be done over the phone no problem.
On this exact date I rang the number given to be put on hold for an inordinate amount of time, I ended up having to end the call as I had clients arriving for their appointments. I used the chat service later that day which said I needed to fill out a form. I clicked the given link and wow this form was a nightmare, asking all kinds of details. It would have been handy to have known the info I needed before starting as I had to keep stopping to find different paperwork. (Proof of address, council rates letter, photographic ID etc)
It did feel like an absolutely ridiculously detailed and complicated form considering I was literally just cancelling a phone line, it seemed deliberately confusing and obstructive, very frustrating.
I managed to fill it all in eventually and sent it off electronically, and got a confirmation.
A month later a lady rang from Clear Business, and seemed unaware I had closed the business and went through a very long rigmarole about "am I absolutely sure, as the phone line will be cut off and all services linked to it" etc. I kept repeating that I no longer occupy the premises, and the actual business no longer exists, and hadn't for a month, AND that I'd filled in the ridiculous online form, AND spoken to her colleagues on the phone to notify them in plenty of time, but she said she had to go through it with me to cancel it.
She assured me that I wouldn't be charged further but as they seemed unaware I had even closed the business I am worried that I will be now.

Didn't have a great experience with the generic line but when I got through to the complaints team I had an excellent experience with Euan who managed to sort everything out quickly and easily. I wish companies would just employ good people as they sort things in a 10th of the time. Surely more cost effective
