Absolute scumbags.
My battery had gone flat in my van while I was was working, and wouldn't start.
When I rang up, all they did was ask questions, like had I left anything on in the van. They wasn't interested in where I was or if I was safe.
I stupidly had mentioned my battery light had come on earlier, and they used it as an excuse to not cover me because I had a "preexisting fault" and I should have gone to the garage straight away. Because that's how the world works isn't it.
So I was left stranded on a client's driveway for ages until I could track down someone with jump leads.
Unbelievable, never had an experience like this with a breakdown before.
The fact they started asking questions to try and catch you out, with no concern for your safety, tells you all you need to know.
AVOID.

Only good when you don’t need them, AVOID.

Most positive reviews don’t seem to be people that have ever actually broken down, so here’s an honest experience. I was about 6 hours from home on a trip when my vehicle broke down, called for some advice/assistance and was simply told anything over 25 miles away wasn’t covered on a NATIONAL policy. Was not told that I could be recovered up to that distance to a garage and then home if required, just NO. Complaints handler was just as abrupt and impersonal as the call handler, completely missed the point of my complaint. Ended up sorting myself out which I might as well have done without the policy, don’t bother.

Please do not use this company. Our daughter, along with our 3 grandchildren, all under 7, broke down on the Blackwall Tunnel Southern Approach, A102. Given the dangerous nature of this road, a very kind gentleman stopped & took them to the local Ikea to be safe & wait for the breakdown truck. THIS company then told us that they couldn't send a breakdown truck out, unless someone was with the vehicle, with the key. They would not allow the breakdown to go ahead unless OUR daughter & our 3 young grandkids travelled back to their car (How?) and waited for the truck. They would not send the breakdown truck to Ikea to collect them first. Surely exceptions must be made in cases like this. Our families safety MUST come first, yet this awful firm would not budge

I recently had a frustrating experience with Cover My Pet, both with the way my claim was handled and the lengthy delays. I signed up for insurance for my dog, Rex, in November 2023 when he was just 3 months old and weighed under 10kg. Naturally, Rex grew (as all puppies do), and by April 2024, when he needed surgery at around 7 months old, he had grown into a large breed dog, weighing over 20kg.

When I submitted a claim for Rex’s treatment in April 2024, I experienced a huge delay. The claim wasn’t even processed until late August, and they blamed it on a "high influx of claims." I was left waiting and stressed during that period. It took far too long for them to review what should have been a straightforward claim.

When they finally assessed it, they applied a 53.56% deduction, claiming Rex was insured under the wrong weight category! But when I took out the policy, I accurately reported his weight at 3 months old. There was no clear communication from them that I needed to keep updating his weight as he grew. The policy was vague, and they certainly didn’t send any reminders about this important detail.

To make matters worse, there’s no way to update such information on their website, which in 2024 is just ridiculous. I later found out I would have had to call them to update something as simple as Rex’s weight. As a new pet owner, I wasn’t regularly monitoring his weight because it’s natural for a puppy to grow, and I trusted the insurance provider to guide me if something needed to be updated.

The deduction feels incredibly unfair—they penalized me for something that should have been clearly communicated. On top of that, their delay in handling the claim only added to the frustration. I’m now escalating this to the Financial Ombudsman Service and would strongly caution other pet owners considering Cover My Pet. Their unclear terms, slow process, and difficult procedures are not worth the hassle.

AVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID!! This comment will be overshadowed by 5 Star reviews that are FAKE!
This company is absolutely diabolical and the worst. They will only provide one call out for you only! They have left me stranded for a service I have paid for. The second call out requested me to pay money upfront, and prove the issue is not related to the first! As a breakdown service why do they not provide recovery to customers that have paid, if the issue is related! Plus my issue wasn’t related but wasn’t allowing me to email the documents over. Stated I had to pay upfront and show my documents for refund. Not to be trusted!
Please do not waste your money on this fraudulent service and save being stressed! My first call out they also took nearly 3hrs to arrive.

Absolute disaster. Avoid at all costs. Spent over 45 mins on the phone trying to call breakdown patrol our with no answer. Only just taken out membership with them and this gives the lowest level of confidence imaginable. You'd think becoming a member of a breakdown service would give peace of mind but never could anyone reasonably expect to have a call unanswered while stranded for over an hour having paid for cover. Ridiculously & totally non-existent service in all senses. When finally spoke to a human they said they would not escalate this concern (1/9/24, 9pm) Unbelievable & appaling service.

I needed to make an adjustment to my policy recently and Jack was very efficient at actioning the changes. The call was very quick indeed, all amendments were made correctly, and he sent through the documentation exactly as and when he said he would. Very satisfied with this most recent interaction, which included a helpful reminder that my policy is a personal one, meaning that I can use it for any vehicle in which I'm a driver/rider or passenger (minus the expected exceptions).

In the past, I've also needed a recovery of my old bike though CoverMy and it worked pretty well. There was a bit of faff around having to pay for part of it, and then recouping the cost as a separate transaction, but everything worked well enough (if a little slowly). Communication of wait times and costs were pretty decent from what I recall. The recovery companies they used/subcontracted were good in my experience.

My personal experience - Really pleasant to deal with on renewal of my breakdown policy.

We have had to call them a couple of times in the last year and everything went smoothly - on both occasions arriving sooner than estimated.

Prompt, courteous and professional service throughout.
