I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Darwin Insurance Company. To make matters worse, they incorrectly listed two claims on one car when we actually had two different cars with the same drivers. Despite this being their mistake, they considered it my fault.

The worst part was when my car was hit from behind by a bike driver who was driving against the road. Even though I had a witness who confirmed my story, Darwin Insurance completely ignored this evidence. Their customer service is appalling, and their handling of my case has been nothing short of negligent. I strongly advise against using Darwin Insurance Company if you want reliable and when I was trying to renew my insurance, they increased the price of the insurance and they told me, sorry , but that is business!

Worst car insurance company to deal with.
Agreed a renewal price and date on the phone, they failed to put it through their system leaving me with no insurance.
Spoke to them on the phone to try and resolve the problem and their solution was to "seek insurance elsewhere" because it's not their problem.
Avoid this company!

Absolute scam artists! Switched my policy to my new car, when it came to renewal I declined as the service was terrible.

I had been in an accident, the other driver was to blame and admitted fault, I had to continuously call to chase up the claim to get it sorted.

Darwin then auto renewed my previous cars policy, a policy that had changed to my new car and hadn't been in use for over 6 months. When I refused to pay for this policy they sold my details to a debt collection agency. I had to run around getting evidence to proof I no longer owned the car.

Received an email today saying they had renewed our car insurance for another year . Knew nothing about this. The Policy doesn't expire until late December.
Had to ring them . Got an apology but beware .

This company is a JOKEEE. They left me and my autistic 4 year old son in the broken down car for 4 hours whilst they said they can collect my car under my insurance policy. The day was the hottest on the year.
I kept calling and the CSAs kept hanging up on us, said theyd call back but kept us waiting all aftenoon.
After 4 hours we could wait no more and walked home. My little boy was in bits with his fits. The next day after they eventually collecting my car and kept it in a recovery lot 40 miles from my home they called back and Said they had bad news, your car actually isn't covered under your policy. I said how am I going to get my car back? They said I'm going to have to get it back on my own. They offered me £50 compensation. I had to pay £240 out of my own pocket to get my car transported back to me! After months and months of complaining darwin eventually backed down and offered me £150 compensation and the rebate for the £240 for the recovery costs.
I wanted the stress to be over with so I reluctantly agreed. After about a 2 week wait I received a check for just £150.

Got back intouch with customer service via the phone and email, I was bounced around from department to department, emails ignored. Eventually I got through and they said sorry we will resend our the agreed amount of £390.
So a another 2 weeks go by and I eventually receive one check, again just for £150!. Again I spent hours trying to get through to them, emails and phone calls ignored. I then sent them a final email telling them I will go to the ombudsman. The complaints team replied to my email saying they will reply withing 48hrs. 3 days pass no reply.. surprise surprise!
I then took another day off work to write to the ombudsman. They eventually secured a dispute resolve of £400 compensation for their shocking service and the £240 rebate totaling £640. I reluctantly again agreed as I wanted it over. Waited a week and today I received only two checks totalling £390. This is £250 short.

This company is a joke. My little 4 year old who is extremely autistic is still not right in the car now due to company. DO NOT GO WITH DARWIN INSURANCE!!! Im now thinking of going down the legal route and seeing for damages

1st year with darwin no complaints. Decided to renew for 2nd year as was cheaper than anywhere else. 5 months down the line in the 2nd year they had the cheek to cancel my insurance saying I needed to show proof of my driving licence. They gave me a deadline where I couldn't meet due to work. I had insurance going to work but wouldn't of been able to drive home when they cancelled it. Absolute joke and the woman on the phone was no help at all! God knows why I had to show proof of it. Some stupid reason. Well done on losing a customer!!! Avoid!!

Shocking customer service when you tried to change the brand new car you bought. They do not insure any MG 2024 HS drivers! Wow… what kind of company cannot insure new models? Very bad responses from agent and team leader. “Unwilling” is the word used. Over 30plus driving and suddenly my place is full of crime (not) I’m not worthy (not) and my car doesn’t exist (not).
