Avoid at all costs, the ethical in their name is laughable. They will go to any lengths to reject a claim. I have been a customer for 14 years for various bicycles, for the first time I had to claim as due to impact damage there was a crack in my carbon fibre road bike seat stay, making it completely unsafe to ride. There was an incident which caused damage to the rear mech last time it was ridden. They asked for a mechanic report, a quote for repair or replacement, proof of purchase and then asked me to get a quote for the manufacturer on their out of warranty programme (unfortunately not covered due to no longer making rim brake frames)

They then rejected the claim saying they consider it general wear and tear. When I challenged this, pointing out the report they asked me to get said it was impact damage, and asked them to back up the claim that such damage can occur as wear and tear in carbon fibre after less than 5000 miles. They (I assume accidentally) said they agreed that such damage does not occur as wear and tear but that it was just an example of an excluded cause and that they consider that it may have been caused by the mechanic who discovered it (prior to servicing I might add, the shop had the bike all of 10 minutes before they phoned me to say they had found this when giving it a once over before the service)

The worst insurance I've ever come across, they have lied to me, then offer backhanded apology, this company will go to all measures to defer claims. The customer services is shocking, they do not know the difference between investigators and loss adjusters. The theft of a bicycle I've had to prove sales of motorbikes, give bank statements and even prove non related trips away with work several months prior to the theft, they will defer on any means they can. Not to be trusted.

I was a big supporter of this organisation, and a member for many many years... believing them to be more ethical than the rest(which they may be.. ) but when I really needed them, they let me down... and what's more were completely unapologetic about it. Save your money. It's just an insurance based policy and you can get the same level of cover for a quarter of the price... If you want to to feel better about it you could just donate the money saved to a charity you care about. Not impressed.

1 easy to find a list of aproved locks ( link in policy e mail)
2 easy to use online portal
3 Paid out fast after my bike was stolen.
4 very responsive and friendly via E mail.
Thank you for making what could of been a awful experiance so smoothe and easy.

I've been with ETA for 6 years. They were very prompt on payouts for the time my bike was stolen and also for when I was mugged. Telephone customer service has generally been good. Would recommend them to anyone looking for ethical bike insurance.
