My wife and I had a major hail and wind event that created a tremendous amount of damage to our home, and other properties we owned in South Dakota.

I have been in the building materials industry since the early 1980’s and believed with my knowledge and the confidence of having great insurance coverage we would be taken care of. So, we attempted to deal directly with the insurance company after filing our claim. Not only did the insurance adjuster not perform a complete inspection of our properties but they did not have knowledge of the specific products we would need to repair the damage. The insurance carrier sent out 7 different adjusters who all tried to get us to settle the claim. Even pressuring us to immediately cash the check they had sent. I contacted the carrier numerous times requesting a full inspection to include the roofs and to explain the errors and needing to use the correct products in determining a value for our claim. None of my efforts helped us get any closer to a fair settlement. I felt hopeless at this point.
