I purchased car insurance with GoCompare in good faith on the understanding that, if the need arose, I would be able to claim back my £250 excess in a timely and stress free manner. This was not the case. I was advised on the 11th December that my claim was authorised and payment would be received within 5 working days. 5 working days is also advised on the GoCompare website. When I had not received payment after 6 working days I phoned Coplus as advised by GoCompare to chase payment. No investigation was conducted in to my case and the solution was to move the goal posts as I was simply advised to wait 7 working days. After 8 working days I phoned again and requested that they look into my case this time and at least check that they has the correct bank account details . At this point I was advised that there had been a problem on the 11th in that Coplus accounts team had not received the authorisation due to an issue in their system and that I would have to wait another 5 to 7 working days. Not good enough, even after raising a complaint and speaking with Quality Assurance my payment could not be expedited but I was promised that payment would be made before the New Year!! By the Friday before New Year still no payment. Another phone call to the complaints team and the goal posts were moved again to the 4th of January. I have now received payment but this entire episode has caused me unnecessary stress not to mention a significant waste of my time following up false promises and incorrect timeframes. I have asked GoCompare for some form of compensation but they consider the fact that because I received payment eventually there would be no compensation forthcoming. So, if things go wrong don't expect good customer service from GoCompare and don't expect them to have any consideration for the effect this may have on you and your mental health trying to rectify their poor service.

Decent website and offers a genuinely good prices. Gocompare is usually cheaper for me than other comparison sites, although my sister found another site cheaper. Either way, I've been using Gocompare for around 6 years now and I really can't complain.
The only little hiccup with the website came after the latest update and I can't save any motorbike quotes anymore. This can be a struggle when I try to check premiums on multiple days before renewal or if I want to see the price difference for multiple additional options.

Just recently tried to get car insurance for my wife using Gocompare. When we decided which company to go for, which was Aegeas, the second cheapest, on transferring to their site to pay for the cover I discovered the cost had increased by approx £40. Thinking there was a mistake I then telephoned Aegeas and, after I eventually got through, I was informed that the Gocompare price was just a guide and the correct price was indeed £40 more. I then tried our second choice RIAS and exactly the same thing happened again. I then used Moneysupermarket and got quotes which were slightly cheaper than Gocompare and when transferring to the RIAS website the price did not changed.I have used Gocompare many times before and never had this situation. Maybe there was just a glitch in their system on this occasion, but it ended up wasting a lot of my time.

Gocompare was promoting MCE insurance for a long time.Top of all searches.
Now under administration and customers looking for new insurance companies.
Their activity is suspect.
Won't use again.

Do not attempt to claim the free excess cover they allegedly supply when you use their link. I firmly believe they have no intentions whatsoever in paying out. My particular case I have uploaded dozens of documents and letters from my insurer and they continue to find new excuses to prolong the process. This has persisted for months now. It is not helped by the fact that Axia (the company they use for this) do not respond to messages for 7-10 days. Outrageously frustrating.

I have no complaints with this comparison site just had my car insurance renewal through from Hastings Direct fully comprehensive £884.66 got a quote from go compare and took out a new policy for the same cover £421.01 he is a no brainer.
