(***UPDATED NOTE: We received our inspection report from Hancock showing $600 worth of damage, but just today I received the inspection report from the first Inspector from Paul Davis who came out in the morning - his extensive report, with pictures that clearly showed the damage, at over $12,000. The Hancock inspector we had did NOT do his job at all. Read the rest for what transpired prior to our report from Paul Davis today.) This company (Hancock) and who they hire as inspectors lacks any form of competency. Allstate scheduled an appointment for us to have our home looked at after a microburst came through our area and did major damage to so many homes. Windows were blown out, trees down everywhere, trees through windows, trees on roofs. The high winds caused boats and boat lifts to be overturned on the lake, power was out for over 24 hrs, and just so much damage overall. The inspector came to our home and said he has seen so much damage in our area. He then proceeded to do our inspection, then left. Not even 24 hrs later we get a call from Allstate saying his report was turned in and the only damage the inspector is showing is our downspout. I walked around the house with him (though at first he declined and said he knows what to look for). I showed him all our busted up siding from a canoe that slammed into our house on one side. I showed him the busted up siding on the other side of the house from kayaks that were thrown into our home. Our home is 2 stories and we can see busted siding all the way up. He said in his report all damage to siding was waist high or below and because it was that low it was not storm damage. He also said because we had scuffs on our siding that it wasn't storm damage. Keep in mind everyone had items thrown 2 and 3 houses down. All of us neighbors were returning everyone's items as boats, kayaks, pier pieces, water pumps, dog houses, trash cans, mailboxes, etc were thrown everywhere - and yet he says because there are "scuffs" on our siding it isn't storm related? I would think the scuffs would indicate it is storm related from everything that was blown all over. Now, keep in mind Allstate somehow had 2 inspectors from 2 different companies come to our home. One in the morning, and then one from this company in the afternoon (though he was supposed to be at our place between 11-2 he showed up at 3:30). The first inspector from another company did an incredibly thorough job and was at our home for 2 hours. He took tons of pictures and spoke with me afterwards stating his findings and all the damage he saw on the elevations, and to our siding, and indicated it was storm damage. As well as impact damage to some of our shingles because of all the hail. The inspector from Hancock sent over blurry photos to Allstate and the adjuster told me he couldn't even make them out they were so blurry... and based off of Hancock's report (or lack there of) we only had damage to our downspout. Thankfully the other company will be sending over their report on Monday so we shall wait to see what Allstate does at that point. But had Allstate not scheduled us 2 inspectors and we were left with just Hancock we would be totally screwed over because of the incompetency of their inspector. Stay as far away from this company as possible. It appears they are in it just to get the inspection fee or something along those lines, and then flee... their inspectors obviously lack any competency for this kind of situation. If you have a claim DO NOT use them or you will be left out to dry and have to deal with everything at your own expense. I would give 0 stars if I could.

My insurance company sent a young man from Hancock Claims Consultants to protect my home after Hurricane Helene.

The young man was Austin Achtor, I can't say enough good things about his work ethic, quality of work, politeness, and concern for the protection of my property.

When your life is disrupted by a natural disaster, it is comforting knowing that you have one less thing to stress over.

I highly recommend Austin with Hancock Claims Consultants for top quality work, but also peace of mind during a time of crisis.

Please read all of the other negative reviews. They definitely live up to the hype. Don't have time to write my own review. I'm too busy figuring out how I'm going to replace a damaged roof that Hancock determined was not due to 120 mph hurricane winds.

We had a bad hail storm come through the area, resulting in us filing a claim. Our insurance company set up an inspection with Hancock. After reading reviews here on Google we were more than worried. An appointment for a an inspection was set and we were told we would get a text the night before to confirm the appointment was still good. Our inspector, Mark B., text us the night before to confirm the time, was responsive, even understanding as the original time set conflicted with an unforeseen event. He communicated his whereabouts and his arrival time. Even kept up with the incoming weather. He arrived a little later than expected, but it was a busy day for everyone. Mark was very professional, polite and personable. Explaining all of his findings and answering any and all questions he could. Our interaction with him could not have gone any smoother than it did. As first time home owners we had no idea what to expect and then getting assigned a company with bad reviews had us nervous. Five star review because our inspector was thorough and the communication was excellent. Highly recommend Mark B.

I filled a claim for hail damage to my roof. The contractor I hired was supposed to meet with the hancock rep to show them the damages he found. Hancock called me 2 hours before the scheduled inspection and said he was in the area and would like to come inspect. He showed up 1 and a half hours early and said my roof was fine and left. My neighbor had a hancock inspection and the same thing happened. Meanwhile the rest of the neighbors are getting new roofs installed. Do not let your insurance company tell you you have to use this company.

From my experience, this is the most dishonest company I know of. They do not take care of their people. Their own employees don’t even enjoy working there. They are absolutely the worst option for a homeowner in a time of crisis. They are the least thorough at documenting storm damages, and they will put you in a worse situation than you began with. They will overlook on average 50% of all of the damages that need to be accounted for.

This company has in the past been fined by the department of labor for misclassifications of its so called contractors 1099 which in fact they were being treated as employees.

Despite the fines and legal actions that have been taken against Hancock, they continue to operator under the old habits. Reasons why it’s because they are trying to save money on matched employee taxes, they don’t have to provide benefits etc…

All field techs are considered contractors but they are being assigned to inspections without a prior approval or knowledge. They push for the contractors to wear company issued uniforms. And many other forms of tactics that I won’t share here since it will be best to use in court of law instead.

If the tech is part of what they call a CAT team which they will send you to areas or other states that have been effected by a hurricane or any natural disasters, they require you to be deployed for a minimum of 3 weeks at a time which again is against the labor law to require a contractor to do such a thing.

One of the I guess I will call it funny but it’s not. They promise all CAT team on day one and it’s even on their agreement that they will provide a hotel room during the deployment period. However once you get to your destination of deployment you will realize that you will be sharing a hotel room with a total stranger that you have never met before.

They expect you to be in that room for 3-4 weeks in a shared environment with another tech that you have no idea what kind of person he is. Imagine having to shower, use the restroom, making a phone call to your spouse etc… all while another stranger with you in the room. ( sounds like a high school field trip) not a professional assignment.

If you challenge the situation you will be told if you don’t like it you can always pay for your own room but you will not be compensated or reimbursed.

CAT manager named Greg petty is one of the worst communicator you will ever deal with. He never answers his phone, he might get back to you 3-4 days later on an important issue. They expect you to run many and I mean many inspections a day 6-10 a day while on deployment. If you challenge anyone’s authority, they will get rid of you in one or two ways. First they will just say that Hancock dosent need your services anymore. Second especially if you been there for a bit, they will retaliate in a way they think they can get away with it which they will just not assign you any claims and let you sit and wait, claiming volume is low or it’s too slow, in the hopes you get mad and just quit.

By the way if you’re a customer and reading this, some Hancock techs will try to save the insurance company from replacing your roof or undercut the claim. They do it so the insurance company can keep Hancock as their preferred vendor for the inspections. Not saying all of them are that way but there are a few out there. I suggest to get a second opinion or ask the insurance adjuster that you would like if possible to hire your own inspector. It’s worth it to have a non bias opinion.

In a nutshell, avoid this scam at all cost, the mission statement for them is this they want anyone that can just get on roofs all day long to take photos and do the inspections, nothing about them discussing safety, professionalism etc… they don’t care because if you get hurt it’s on your own insurance not theirs.

I’m collecting a list of names whether it’s past employees, contractors, office staff even current employees are more than welcome to reach out we will keep your name anonymous if you fear retaliation. We will file a formal class action suit on your behalf at no cost to you, if we win which of course we have collected all the data needed to file a formal lawsuit. The outcome we are looking to reach is backpay for the miss classification, lost wages, revenues etc…

I had an appointment with Hancock Claims Consultants arranged through my home insurance company due to roof leaks. Initially, they assigned Mr. Joshua Thomas as the inspector. Unfortunately, my experience with Mr. Thomas was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional.

The insurance company had set an appointment window from 8-11 AM, but Mr. Thomas rescheduled for the late afternoon—twice. I understand that workloads can be demanding, as I also manage a full-time job and a family, so I accommodated the changes without issue. However, the real problem came during the third appointment when he abruptly canceled. I had asked him to hold on briefly as I needed to coordinate with my contractor, but instead of being understanding, he told me my time slot had already been given to another client. The level of unprofessionalism and complete disregard for my time was unacceptable.

Fortunately, the company rectified the situation by sending a different inspector, Mr. Nick Jerge. Mr. Jerge not only arrived on time but also took the initiative to apologize for his colleague’s behavior. His professionalism and customer service were a breath of fresh air. It’s remarkable how far a little empathy and courtesy can go in creating a positive experience for customers.

In summary, while the initial encounter with Mr. Thomas was disappointing, the excellent service provided by Mr. Jerge salvaged the situation. Hancock Claims Consultants should take note—customer service matters, and professionals like Mr. Jerge make all the difference.
