Didn’t realise how poor this insurance was until after I had made payment, admittedly I did judge it based on the defacto rating. Firstly the service is not set up correctly you would think with a direct partner in Hastings that they would have an app set up. The staff are rude and not very transparent, so I am told that when you run multiple quotations this does not impact future quotations as these are not logged so you can’t access them, as it would with comparison sites. I have been looking at numerous cars recently with the exact same details bar the car itself and initially was affordable I had set up a viewing with a dealer and even reserved the car based on this information, I had checked each day up until the last day before I was viewing the car and I could no longer insure the car, so I thought surely they’ve lied to me here and the underwriters do flag or bump up the price whereas I was told this wasn’t the case. So I continued to do so with many other cars of different makes and models and again this was the case initially I could insure but all of a sudden I couldn’t. My issues here is not that they flag you for this but they don’t tell you the reason why when you get on a call with them and unlike comparison sites there’s no way of you grabbing a reference from previously to insure the vehicle. Apologies this was a lot but this has wasted my and other people’s time based on a false statement.

I needed to claim for a windscreen repair. I couldn't use their authorised repairer as I would have needed to take the full day off. I spoke with 2 people at Hastings who advised me that they would pay up to £95 of a claim based upon production of an invoice for the same.

I sent through the invoice as advised. Followed up 2 weeks later..... Now being told that Hastings won't pay out and that I was misinformed by the 2 customer service agents I spoke to.

Will not be using Hastings Direct again and advise anyone thinking of doing so to proceed with caution. In 20 years of driving, have never had such a bad experience with an insurance company.

I had some difficulty using the app and had spent the week speaking to different people over the phone trying to get help, I called today and spoke with Neel Davda who sorted my issue within 5 minutes after being on the phone the phone for 45 minutes on Thursday and still being unresolved! Thankyou for taking the time to help me out ! Amazing customer service today, have a lovely weekend Neel I can’t thank you enough

shocking customer service, rude, slow, taken 5 months to ask for proof of no claims and given small amount of time to provide, they then dont accept documents despite them stating proof pf no claims and want to increase price by 260 pounds with 5 days notice.
Then spent ages on hold!
Shocking company will not be renewing with them and cant wait for this year to be up.

First and last time to insure with these found it very stressful. First they wanted a copy of V5, then a copy of my driving license. Next came needed a copy of my husbands driving license when I thought they were done I had to send a code to check convictions (,which I might add where none). Never ever have we had to do this insure our not a new car. Not happy at all

Had a letter through to say that i won’t be able to renew with then next year, no reason why, I have not made a claim, I got 11 years no clam bonus and also I tried to ring them to find out the reason and they are closed on the weekends when advertised on there site it says they are open between certain hours.
Very annoyed as I am not sure if this will now go against me as I have never been refused any insurance, credit cards or anything like that. How am I going to justify that to my next insurer !!!!

Awful. Told me my car was a write off. No contact for weeks, no curtesy car. Eventually I went and bought new car without my payout. Weeks later they tell me it’s not a write off after all and it’s away for repair. Ended up losing thousands having to sell the repaired car. I wouldn’t have bought a new one if I’d known it wasn’t a write off! AVOID. Taking complaint to ombudsmen. I was charged the full policy after having to cancel it because I had to sell the car.
