We had great service from Ison Harrison in selling a property which became more complex than anticipated due to shared ownership, probate and new leases. However everything was dealt with calmly and promptly and I was kept fully informed throughout. Even better, at the end the bill was hardly any more than the original estimate. I would certainly strongly recommend their services.

In a few words: Could be a dream solicitor to go to, but got shocked before we started discussing details.

Sent them an email saying, that I want to buy a house and explained my situation (sold my house in a different country to get a nice deposit money) adding this little bit, that changed everything: that some issues may occur, as I already struggled for over a week to get bank statements from the bank abroad. To let them know, that it may be a bit more complicated than usual. And asked for a quote (as wanted to compare with other solicitors, as I had 2 quotes ready).
That changed the tone of our conversation 180°:

"Good Morning

We are obliged to see full source of funds paperwork, dating back to when the monies arrived in your account and how that came about.

If you are struggling to provide such paperwork, unfortunately, we will be unable to represent you in this matter."
Requested a loosely estimated quote again, never asked them to proceed if anything's missing, and here's the reply:

"I cannot say exactly which documents I would need as it depends entirely on your circumstances but you mentioned that you were struggling to obtain paperwork. If you cannot get it then we cannot proceed, so no, we would not provide you with a quote"
At this point, seeing that kind of attitude, I decided to say good bye making sure, that they'll know what I think of it.
So if you want to give them a chance:
1. Don't mention any past problems, as they'll totally fixate on it, forgetting what you asked them for.
2. Be ready to give them all the paperwork needed, even if they're not sure, what documents it means before they provide you with a quote.

Please let me know, if I'm the daft one here, expecting a quotation before sending anything to them, expecting polite explanation, if they're not allowed to fulfill my request, instead of "so no, because no, leave us alone" customer service?
