Very disappointed this year when It come to my renewal....
After being with Lancaster for the past 14-15 years, Iv always worked with them to get to a price we was both happy with but the lady on the phone couldn't be bothered to even try and work through my details as some have changed.
I wasn't expecting them to match the quote that I'd got from a comparison website but sadly she said we can't match that and won't even try ... I'm guessing because I rang after 5pm, she wanted to get home 🤔
Such a shame as iv always stayed with Lancaster regardless of cost because they have always gone above and beyond to help out as much as they.

Called Lancaster today to renew my campervan insurance. Only let down was the AI? which could neither hear me, understand me, or find the policy and so gave up and connected me to an agent.
I had a lot of changes to make this year after bereavement, retirement and vehicle requirements. Spoke to Connie who patiently worked through it all in a very diligent and cheerful manner, and was a pleasure to deal with. I should knock a star off for the irritating AI but thanks to Connie who rescued me from the robot and cheered me up for the day I will leave it at 5 stars.

UPDATE: Just had a call from someone who lacked the skill and knowledge on the phone who’s constant use of the phrase “No worries” has just made this worse…

I’m a retired person with limited funds but insured my 1967 MGB Roadster with Lancaster Insurance Services. I decided to sell it after 5 months in to the policy and cancel the remaining insurance. When I asked for a refund of the 7 months I used insurance, this is what they sent:

“I can confirm that your policy for registration SOYXXXF has been cancelled with effect from 04/01/2025, please see below your charges for this cancellation.

Insurer time on risk: £49.56 (Calculated on short period rates - up to 5 months = 65%)
Arrangement fee: £49.50 (non-refundable outside the 14 day cooling off period)
Cancellation Fee: £7.34 (As per our Terms of Business)
Discount: -£8.33 (Refunded on a pro-rata basis)

Total cost to cancel: £98.07

Payments to ourselves: £98.07

Total Paid: £98.07

This results in no refund and no outstanding balance”.

See how they manipulated the figures so they could keep all my money? They made this up on the spot so they could KEEP EVERY PENNY. I hope they are happy ripping older people off like me. I now have the time to copy and paste this everywhere Lancaster Insurance Services wish to advertise to get new customers from.

Yep went to cancel my insurance as sold the car - original cost £340, went to cancel and the £285 rebate was exactly the same as the cancellation fee!! Read the small print folks. What has happened to Insurance Companies, it's like they don't want your business anymore!!! Won't return.

I've never known a company to not offer auto renewal and then absolutely hound you during working hours quite like Lancaster. Up to 4 phone calls every weekday while I'm working and obviously unable to answer, yet they persist. I managed to find cover for less than Lancaster had offered at renewal, but even if they'd been cheaper they'd managed to massively annoy me by not getting the hint that I can't answer the phone?

Appalling service. They'll respond double quick if you enquire about a new policy but once you're a customer they'll never speak to you. probably the worst customer service around. And they will ramp up premiums by 30-40% once you're a customer. Plenty of more competitive insurers around who will speak to customers and offer some form of service.

I have been with Lancaster insurance on and off for many years never really seem to have a problem until today. I went to cancel my insurance. My insurance was £150 for the whole year. I have paid them roughly £40 and had to pay them £81 to cancelled the insurance so I ended up paying the full year insurance, even though I’ve only had it for roughly 4 months, they obviously don’t really care about their customers. It’s just all about the money. I will not be returning back to this insurance company. I would rather find someone else to ensure my Car not in the group. If your plan is taking insurance out you find someone else.

Sadly not a good experience at all. Be aware that cancellation costs are heavily loaded. Diligently paid my insurance for 5 years until my car was scrapped sadly. I was hit with a huge cost to cancel the policy, considerably more than one would expect as an administration charge. Not only that, but my experience with European breakdown cover with this company has been abysmal, left on the side of the road, disabled and during a storm. Needless to say, I do not recommend this company, the initial low cost is illusory. Beware of this company, there are better options for your classic car.
