When my wife and I turned 50 our thoughts relating to retirement moved to the front of our minds. We realised that we would benefit from some impartial advice particularly around our pension arrangements as we both had a number of workplace and private pensions and we wanted to know if these should be left in place or consolidated in some way.

With this being a specialist area and something of a minefield and with one hearing about pension scams we approached this endeavour with some trepidation.

We knew we wanted an independent (rather than tied) advisor so started with an FSA search of IFA's. This returned a few options in our area and after some investigation we settled on an initial interview with ML.

Craig visited us at home and listened to us explain our situation and plans for the future. A short while after the visit we received details from Craig in the form of a proposal of how he felt we might achieve our goals and the charges that ML would make to assist us.

We were happy with both of these and asked Craig to go ahead. There was quite a lot for ML to do initially with pension transfers and ISA's to set up and we were kept up to date at all times.

ML have now been managing our pensions and investments for about 4 years with regular updates, suggested portfolio changes and annual reviews and even during the challenges of the last 12 months have produced some impressive results for us.

I would have no hesitation in recommending ML to anyone looking for a professional organisation to help them through the minefield of pensions and investments.
