My mortgage broker was nice and caring, however, quite advanced in the process of buying a flat and after telling me I could go with 10% deposit, he “found out” that since the housing market crash in 2008 lenders would only lend 85% for conversion flats, he said it was quite normal, but he never mentioned and he had all the information about the property from the very beginning, in theory did not see that coming, but that is his job, and that put my purchase at risk.. after that, I put 15% deposit and I had to insist for him to check the interest rate again as I added a lot more cash, he would not do it by his own initiative, I got a 0.25% reduction, but only because I insisted, I would have expected a lot more proactivity.
