Update on mine and my partner’s experience with MPI brokers, when I had my accident at the start of February I was airlifted from the mountain and flown to hospital. I have now received 3 letters from the air rescue company in Austria saying that the cost of the airlift has still not been paid and I am being threatened with legal action even though I was told by MPI brokers 1-2 months ago that they had paid and covered the cost of the helicopter. MPI brokers should have covered the cost as soon as I received the invoice which was around a month after my accident I am now 5 months on from the accident and still has not been paid. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever encountered with an insurance company. I would advise everyone to avoid

I have STILL waiting to receive a ski claim I made back in April/May this year. MPI had said my claim would be settled in July however- MPI are not responding to any emails, phone calls, complaint letters sent in. I have reported to Obudsman.

Me and my partner, took out a dual policy for a ski season unfortunately my partner was involved in a serious accident and was hit by a skier. She spent 4 days in intensive care and 2 weeks in hospital. Mpi have been useless when trying to claim for damages and helicopter airlift bill, also hospital costs have not been paid out, even after being sent all receipts, they have been very slow at replying and don’t respond to emails. It’s been an awful experience after a very traumatic event, would not recommend to anyone

I have used MPI for many many years now and have always had excellent communication from them. My husband broke his leg skiing in France and everything was dealt with in a very efficient way, including all the transfers to the airport from the resort, the flight and the taxi transfer the other end to get him home. This was all done without me as we had driven out! Also, 6 years ago we flew with Small Planet to Skiathos for a flotilla holiday and my bags never turned up. When I got home they reimbursed me very quickly for all the phone calls, clothes I had to buy etc. As a company we now do all our corporate insurance through MPI.

I was unlucky and had a bad accident which required me to stay in hospital for many days and to have surgery. The people at MPI broker on the end of the phone were very sympathetic and helpful when called, albeit a bit slow to sort out my transport back to the UK from the hospital.

On return to the UK I received an email explaining how to claim which is quite straight forward. Simply attach receipts etc. to the email and reply. I received an email back within a few days containing their totals of what they thought I was entitled to. They’d missed a few bits off and it eventually took a call to head office to complain to get it added on. Head office was extremely professional and understanding and explained that it’s a new company dealing with that side of the claim, and they’d misunderstood the policy and it was promptly sorted. Money was in my bank within 3 days.

I’ve rated my experience a 4* because of the delay in my transport back to the UK and the hassle I had to get all of my money back.

I will 100% use MPIBroker again for my next trip as I believe these were one off issues and the rest of the service was exceptional.

If you’re serious about snowboarding / skiing then you should really consider this company as they cover for a lot of important stuff most insurance companies don’t. They’re also a pleasure to deal with.

I took out ski insurance cover for my son - three month policy for a ski instructors course in Canada. When I spoke to a helpful adviser at the time of taking out the policy she suggested that I should take out the top package insurance as they knew fees for the course are high and it would mean we would get a better curtailment rate if needed. I took her advice and how thankful I was that I had. My son had a bad fall 3 weeks into the course and after two weeks of not getting any better and unable to ski they advised he should be flown home. They sorted all this out - always someone up to date to speak to whatever time I called. Very helpful with the big time difference as could speak to my son and then an adviser. They booked him 1st class ticket home, paid all medical fees which were v high without any quibble, and most notable of all they paid the full amount available (£5000) for curtailment - again with no quibble so long as I provided details of the course fees paid etc and date of accident and end date of course. Only took 5 days to settle all. VERY impressed, all were kind and helpful to talk to. We have insured with MPI for 17 years now as their ski package is so good and I now know that they back that with a very good service if you claim.

Some parts not covered - i.e. asymptomatic asthma. However, I did need to claim after fracturing a leg bone on the slopes, bit faffy in getting things sorted, but once they were sorted, got a taxi from my accomodation to the airport, assistance at the airport followed by assistance at next airport and met by a taxi to take me home. Very valuable £20 spent.
