Having spent over 10 years with my previous broker and seeing the costs steadily rise year on year I decided to make more of an effort and find alternatives. After a bit of investigation and have had a recommendation from a friend I decided to try NFU. Their visited my home, spent over an hour discussing options before settling on a high net worth policy. A few days later (after a few changes) I had a quote which was about 10% lower than my previous insurer. All in all very happy with the extra mile NFU (Dan) was willing to go for me. Highly recommended?

If it were possible to give a zero star, I would. Having ported from Hiscox, I can tell you NFU Mutual Salisbury deliver the worst customer service of any insurer or in fact financial services provider I've used.

The lack of impetus managing my no-fault claim had to be seen to be believed. NFU sent the claim to the wrong recivery team so we lost six months. Despite constant chasing, and some broken promises that the Salisbury team would 'own' the claim and provide weekly updates, nothing happened.

Headoffice complaints said the claim had been managed correctly - although in the same breathe they acknowledged we'd lost six months because of the error processing.

Recovery kept telling me the plumber who caused the water damage denied being, that here we had no evidence despite two eyewitnesses. Fisco? Yes.

Nearly a year later, I've been told he has admitted liability and I'll get my excess back. A month of chasing that repayment has yielded nothing and the Salibury office is predicatbly unresponsive.

In short, a low-cost provider could provide better service so avoid NFU at all costs. How they stay in business and retain a reputation as a quality provider is beyond me.

I'll be back with Hiscox next year.

A drain clearance job became a drain relining job. Karin agreed no excess cover unnder additional insurnace straight away. When the drain comapny wouldn't split the invoice in two for the underwriters Karin persisted and found a way to reimburse 100% of the claim . Well done Karin and the NFU!

Excellent, speedy service. I really appreciated being able to speak to a ‘real’ person rather than getting stuck in the endless option choices of the automated service so many other companies use. Oscar at the NFU in Salisbury was a fantastic help in renewing the cover for our Ploughing Match which hadn't been held since 2018. He found the original policy, explained the new cover very clearly and was friendly and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend him and the NFU.

It was always going to happen, back to the NFU after a few years away. My car insurance request was a little more unusual and my previous insurer was no longer able to provide the insurance cover I needed.

I had found it frustrating to insure my second car online so that I could allow a long time friend, UK born but living in Malta, to occasionally use the car when he is visiting. I wanted to ensure the car was fully covered for myself and my friend. NFU's Liz Williams immediately put me at my ease, assured me it was OK and checked with the underwriters. As a result I achieved a secure and good value deal. I can now let him drive off into the wide, blue yonder without any misgivings.

I have asked Liz to contact me in September so that we can discuss insurance for my primary car and our house insurance.
