Excellent information provided by Phlorum online as to how to differentiate Japanese Knotweed. I followed up this with an email enquiry as the shoots we have were tricky to be certain about. I was concerned about the appearance of a weed in a neighbours garden and was worried that it could have been Japanese knotweed. I sent three photos to Richard Schofield at Phlorum asking him if he could identify the weed for me. They were sent at 6pm and by 9.30 am the next morning Richard had sent me an email reassuring me that it was not Knotweed and probably a young elm shoot.
