As a landlord, I have been using this company for a number of years for my property and liability insurance requirements. Since the takeover by the Gallagher group, I've found that interactions with the company have become more challenging. It all depends who picks up the phone - you may have an excellent experience but on the other hand it may be exasperating. Suffice it to say, when I have had a claim, the process did go relatively smoothly.

Complete and utter disgrace! Stay away from this company! They take your money twice (plus another amount for something they don't even offer anymore!), assure you that it'll be no problem and they'd issue the refund straightaway... it's now been 5 months, and since the last deadline is up tomorrow, we'll have to lawyer up to get our money back. Total scam!

As a portfolio landlord, my experience with RENTGUARD have been poor. They are not reliable and service is pathetic. I had to chase multiple times for the update as i had to wait more than 7 days for the reference. If you rely on their service, you will definitely LOSE your business. I had to override or scrutinize their report carefully before making decision on prospective tenant's application. If you are a passive hands off landlord, you can not fully rely on their service or report. I had to ask for extra documents myself to check tenants affordability and landlord references etc.
Today i called them to get the update on the delay and spoke with Victoria who was the call handler who said she could not update anything due to data protection. This was hilarious and this staff must be sacked! You need to have a process in place to verify the caller. Previously quoting reference number would suffice but this staff today was very frustrating with unacceptable attitude. She even sent an email update email where she made the entry that landlord was making a complaint. Was she there for a service for the client? Why should i pay for this crazy service. Please check out other services available in the market

As a tenant I used the system twice, never had a problem with my application, If i don't count that they are slow, customer service is painful lazy and amateur in a good day. However they are very good to give excuses and to take always the slowest way to get an answer. I think is an ideal service if you like to have a unreliable and slow service, and like to argue with mean people on the phone.

had to constantly chase up about our ongoing reference, parts of our application were declined until we called them and they realised they made mistakes. If we had not have chased up ourselves we would’ve been rejected because of their incompetence.

formal letter arrived with many enclosures relating to my valued custom and an acquisition with the Gallagher group. Very confused as was not aware I was a customer! Called, waited for over 10 minutes for a connection and eventually advised that I was not on their client base. Asked for a call back from a Manager....never happened. Disgraceful waste of paper and abuse of a database.

they emailed the offer and sent several emails to ask additional questions and never replied. Then I tried calling and the call would cut off. I can't imagine how they can help with a serious problem if they don't reply to emails or calls to help you buy their product

Poor service quality, lack of communication within the company, very long and overdone referencing process.
- lack of email communication, long waiting times for the replies or no replies at all;
- I've been asked to send a passport scan, while I've already sent them one;
- I've had multiple situations where I've sent a document to an employee, and a couple of hours later I was asked by another employee to send the very same document;
- I've received multiple phone calls during my working hours despite the fact I specifically asked to be contacted via email;
- employees are unable to provide a proper list of documents they need - instead, they keep on sending multiple email messages, asking for one document at a time, like if they just reminded themselves about it;
- the application form for people living outside UK isn't actually prepared for non-residents and has some internal incompatibilities;
- employees doesn't seem to be aware how does the banking system work. After being provided with the international bank account number, the employee responded that the "bank details are incorrect".

I could go on and on. Unprofessional and disorganized.
