A seamless process. Got a few quotes for my daughter who was learning to drive and bought her own car. Had a courtesy call before purchase offering to clarify any questions we had but at the same time, not being pushy!
Decided to purchase that day and bought the policy online. Had to answer some supplemental questions before cover was confirmed but that's understandable for a learner driver.
Web chat was also very helpful when I had a query and documents were received in within 48 hours. Easy to download and as clear as they can be.
Really helpful company and hope we never need to use the policy - highly recommended

On my second year with Sterling. I will say the customer service is very good and the prices are somewhat reasonable. Policy has increased a little this year with a lower mileage option, which doesn't really make sense but thankfully not too much. Overall very good service.

I paid in advance only to find out that Sterling wanted an additional £130 or so. When I asked for a refund they instead offered me a discount reducing the extra charge to £70. I agreed.

Two days later I received another call demanding an additional £530. I requested a full refund. The second star is for the hassle-free refund process—everything else was a disaster.

They take your money upfront only to reveal that your insurance will cost nearly twice as much. Avoid.

This is the first time I have used Sterling services. I found their insurance quote very competitive. The customer service team are excellent, contacting me after I had purchased the policy to ensure I was satisfied with the policy supplied. The customer care team throughout were polite and answered any questions I had.
I will certainly check in again with them next time my renewal is due.

Avoid this place I took learners insurance out with this company I used them for less then a month tried to cancel when I passed my test at first they charged me £90.09 now it's price has changed to £120.12 for passing my test . The people have been no help and have just been sending threatening emails about court and adding an extra charge of 25 pound if I don't pay.
AVOID THEM ITS NOT WORTH IT !!!!

Auto renewed a week before due, then let me leave (I canceled policy) as I found it £50 less online. I remember when your current insurer would match any better quotes to keep you as a customer.

Update on review. Since posting this review I was contacted by Sterling customer service and it was explained that their staff had made an error and I should have had the fees refunded when I cancelled the policy. Sterling was very efficient and within a few days the refund was processed and I was assured the staff would receive further training. Very dissatisfied with the process of buying my car insurance. I ended up cancelling the policy, before it came into force as mistakes were made and I was required to provide additional documentation regarding the low mileage. After cancelling I was charged a £50 set up fee, which I wasn’t informed about prior to buying the policy. This set up fee was only clearly stated on the insurance schedule once I had paid. I wouldn’t recommend Sterling.
