Swinton's car insurance was really awful. I had just wanted to update my information and this company forced me to cancel my previous one because they didn't let me update my information, then offered to get the new one at four times more than the previous one price. I don't offer this insurance to anybody.

I changed my vehicle, the same make merely a newer model. For this Swinton hiked up the premium by over 50% for the remaining four months of the policy. When I tried to put my personal plate on the new car, they wanted an extra £35. This is complete highway robbery and as such I have deleted auto renew. I will never use this company again for any insurance products or recommend Swinton as a good and reputable insurance company to anyone.

Made one claim almost a year ago when our drains collapsed in our garden, leaving raw sewage. Since then they have tried to close the claim without informing us. They have claimed they don't have a legal department. They are ignoring our lawyers.
They have not sorted their own internal complaints department. They have disregarded us not renewing our policy and are asking us to reset up the DD. They have completely ignored our data protection requests. In effect, taken our premiums and are doing everything they can not to pay out. We are already £10k out of pocket. I would not go near this bunch of cretins. Use literally anyone else.

When it became time for the renewal I text & emailed the company not to continue. However today I found that they had not only kept my bank account details from last year but they also ignored my instructions and withdraw £452 out of my account leaving me with no money left to pay my direct debit. Take my advice and steer away from what feels to me to be shady dealings

This is the sort of thing you're dealing with.
Misinformation.
2 separate brokers taking money from you're account same day when you clearly said you only have 300 to live on they took the lot nearly and I have a little girl. So to me I really needed my roughly £100 for the month to live on.
He said he would put notes at end of call then just left work.
When I took out the policy I stated on the phone at end of call I get paid 7th, so don't take it on the 6th.
As I needed to get finance on a static caravan.
They forgot to put noted again, resulting in me getting a credit marker.
And I've been on the phone 10+ hours on 4 months to ask for my money back etc.
Avoid like plague.
Posted some good proof for you all to see.
They haven't mentioned the other complaints on the email as its a separate complain. Will update soon as I get a reply letting you know how badly they deal with it, as the manager keeps saying to me "it's not important so we can't make it urgent" mean while I'm trying to move on with my life. And forget about this mess I got myself into.

Friendly very knowledgeable staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Went through everything over the phone with me explaining different options/choices and they saved me a fortune, halving the quoted premium from my regular insurance company that I had been with for many years. Lesson learned- Don't get comfortable with your insurance provider, give Swinton a call - it's going to save you loads!

Stole personal and financial details from another insurer, and setup a car insurance policy without consent and without even requesting a quote. Complaint to HQ and will take this to the ombudsman. No excuse for this blatant skulduggery. Who do they think they are?

Avoid like the plague!!!
Avoid like the plague!!!! Cancelled my policy even though I sent them my details as requested!!! Called up on the day to see if I could sort it out. Apparently not but a £50 cancellation charge (even though I didn't cancel or want to cancel the policy) and happy to set up a new policy and charge me another £150 for one months insurance. Company is a joke and just blamed everyhting on the underwritter. DO NOT USE
