I provided them with a fairly trivial medical update. They unilaterally cancelled my policy without explanation. The first I knew of it was when they returned my direct debit. A letter did eventually arrive saying *I* cancelled the policy. This was incorrect.
Update - Apparently they are in the process of setting up a new policy but hadn't bothered to tell me about it. Too late now! My poor broker has had to work overtime to quickly put a new policy in place for me with another provider so I'm not left without cover.
The Exeter fully admitted this was a below-par service. In fairness, the lady I spoke to on the phone was very polite and apologetic.
My compensation is that if I wish to take out a new policy with them, they will waive the first month's premium. No chance! These are the last people upon whom I would ever want to be relying in a critical illness situation.

Dreadful, I set up a policy and needed to see a consultant as my GP isn’t interested.
They ask me what symptoms I had so I told them and she said we won’t cover a consultation for me. I’ve been paying monthly!
If I’d have known they won’t cover I would have told her I was symptom free and that I wanted to see a consultant for no reason! I have had to cancel the policy. What is the point if they don’t cover.
The hospital I spoke to also said they don’t like to deal with Exeter as they don’t like paying out and even they struggle to get the money the are owed from them. How sad. How disappointing. I was so sad that I can not even have insurance to help me with my medical problems.
It’s sad because I know if I don’t get prompt treatment I will die. But my NHS doctor isn’t listening. My advise from this point on DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME with this company. Pay as you go. It’s around £150 for a consultation direct. Give the money to the private hospitals not the insurance company’s . Seems they don’t pay out

We have only just signed up to this. So far so good. We received all confirmations of the policy immediately, which was perfect. However, we did not received confirmation of when the first payment will be taken.

This company have been terrible to deal with. My emails remain unanswered, after calling them I don't get any follow up info or updates about what's happening.
I had just taken a policy out with them and realised a few ammendments were required to the info I supplied. Trying to get it sorted has been worse than pulling teeth. Eventually I receieved a letter saying that I have cancelled my policy. (Not the case)
I will not be reinstating my policy especially after reading other reviews.
It's doesn't fill you with confidence that if you require to use your insurance, you would actually recieve the compensation you have paid for.
I haven't had the same issues with other companies (aviva)
Stay away and find a company who can communicate both externally and internally.

Chris has been very helpful and informative of what the healthcare insurance covers. Chris has been very friendly and understanding as per my circumstances.I wish I knew about this 3 years ago. But am glad I'm now with this healthcare insurance cover.

The Exeter is living proof that insurance is the biggest scam in history. They're happy to take your money off you but as soon as they need to deliver on the services you pay for, there is not a peep out of them. No matter how many times you contact them, you will not hear back. I have had nothing but stress and headaches since signing up with them. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND THE MONEY AND DON'T SIGN UP WITH THEM !!

My contact at Harmony Health Cover, Kirsty, was extremely helpful and understood my situation perfectly. She explained not only the process but also how she would deal with what I requested. We found the perfect solution for me with the Exeter and hopefully this will be a long-standing relationship.
