Recently changed over to Waggel for my dog insurance as my current insurer stopped doing pet insurance. The process was easier and quicker than i had expected. The site was easy to navigate and i was impressed at the options to increase/decrease amount insured as well as excess willing to pay. I also like that a ‘symptom checker’ is available and the telephone access to qualified vets 24/7 is very reassuring. Would definitely recommend to others

I needed pet insurance I could afford that covered everything my 9 year old German shepherd needed. The policy also covers all dental, even clean & polish if the vet deems it necessary. It doesn’t cover previous illness but as she has been healthy🤞this wasn’t a problem. It was easy to get a quote and set up. So far I’m very happy with wagged, time will tell if I have to claim.

Cannot warn enough- do not ensure your pet with this company. My previous insurance stopped doing pet insurance so I moved to Waggel. My cat required dental surgery for a NEWLY diagnosed autoimmune condition- Waggel refused to pay as they said it was a ‘pre-existing condition’ - despite the fact my vet clearly stated this was new and I reiterated it was new. £1000 spent on surgery and they won’t cover a penny. My own vet was beyond surprised by this.

Well where do I start…had the insurance for 11 months without a claim. Two large dogs so a pricy monthly sum !
Went away for 3 days, sent dogs to kennels-low and behold one of them had a runny tummy. Numerous trips to vet and a blood test that was not definitive and I’m still awaiting compensation just short of a month later.
Numerous coms and information provided but still holding onto the wallet.
The jury is out on Waggel and I definitely feel the verdict will be seconds away…..

After my insurance went up yet again by a considerable amount I decided to switch both of my dogs to waggle. The online account is super easy to navigate and I really loved the emails explaining the cover, especially the dental cover. Best price u could find for my boys. I will definitely try and get my family members to change to waggle.

Really good experience. Unfortunately we had to submit a claim for my older dog. Was able to get preauthorised prior to surgery- then vets were paid out a week later. Our vets said it’s the quickest insurance that has paid out without any complications! Everyone from waggel I spoke to ( chat/email) was great and fast response!
Luckily my dog is on the mend and all my over animals are insuranced waggel!

I used Waggel for my dog’s pet insurance and I was very happy with the service.

As a back story, I met Andrew - Waggel’s founder - a while back while they were launching the product and you can tell he is certainly passionate about providing a great service for pets.

Ever since I moved to the UK, I was never able to find affordable insurance for my dog (a Boston Terrier) but I decided that, no matter what, I would insure him at 8yrs old. I was very lucky to have done that, as a few months into being insured he was diagnosed with a mast cell tumour.

That being said, you will know that this review is from someone who actually had to use her insurance way more than I initially planned to. I have to say that Waggel was very fast to reimburse any claims, and they were very empathic throughout.

The only reason I give it 4 stars rather than 5 is that 1) I tried claiming a complimentary treatment (a nutritionist) and they denied it, even thought it was something recommended by the oncologist; 2) their deductible was per condition, whilst the coverage was inclusive of all conditions. On the contrary, Napo Pet Insurance has a deductible one time, and that is it.

Considering that Bruno had a mct + mitral valve disease, that meant I had to pay £500 on top of my monthly insurance charges to get £4k yearly coverage (which is not much when cancer is involved) I am surprised they also do not cover/refund cremation expenses, as other pet insurance companies do.

They were very nice when Bruno passed. They not only sent a card that we can plant to have flowers in his memory, but they also refunded the last insurance charge as he passed within 15 days of having paid. This was an unexpected surprise.

All in all, Waggel was a good insurance company while we used it; I will probably try Napo should we get another pet, unless my above points are addressed by Waggel (in which case, I’d be more than happy to have them as my pet’s insurers)

WARNING! Do not insure with waggel if you want your pet to actually be insured. If you are with Waggel, cancel your policy after taking up a policy with a more reputable insurer.

Look at the other reviews! Most of the 5 star reviews are people that haven't had to make a claim. Waggel will scrutinise your pets history and look for any way to get out of paying out. Our dog needed a scan due to suspected spinal issue as he was struggling to walk on front legs. But because we had taken him to the vets 2 years prior with stiff back legs, they classed this as a pre-existing condition. They will look for absolutely any way not to pay out. We have never claimed on pet insurance for any of our animals. This has caused huge distress for our family. We have had to take out a credit card to cover any vet bills, I wish we had not bothered from the start and put the monthly payments to the side instead of handing our money over to Waggel.

Waggel are con artists.
