🚨 AVOID PROTECTOR INSURANCE 🚨

Protector Insurance is an absolute scam of a company. Three weeks ago, an employee of Culligan Water crashed into me while changing lanes unsafely. After a week of chasing Culligan Water, the company dealing with the incident on my behalf got put in contact with the third party’s insurer, Protector Insurance.

Despite being made aware of the incident over two weeks ago, Protector Insurance keep claiming they “can’t get hold of the driver” before they can admit liability. They have had files sent over on my behalf with an incident report including pictures of the damage to my vehicle which clearly shows who was in the wrong. How does an insurance company in 2025 take over two weeks just to contact their own insured driver? Shouldn't they already have an incident report from Culligan?

I finally decided to call Protector Insurance myself and got through to a handler named Harry, whose best response to my concerns was “I don’t know what you want me to say” instead of actually doing his job and getting in contact with their insured driver. When I asked for a manager, I was transferred to Scott, who dodged my questions like a trained politician—completely incapable of explaining why they’re dragging their feet and what efforts (if any) they’ve made to chase their insured driver.

A quick Google search of Protector Insurance tells you everything you need to know – a 1.6-star rating and a long list of horrific reviews, many of cases very similar to mine where they will lead you around the garden path and try to do whatever they can to get out of resolving a claim against them. Yet Culligan Water, a supposedly reputable company, chooses to do business with a company that clearly doesn’t care about resolving claims. Guess they just want the cheapest insurance possible, regardless of how shady they are.

At the end of the day, Protector Insurance and Culligan Water are a complete disgrace. Neither company has made any real effort to rectify the situation, and in the meantime, I’m left driving around in a damaged car through no fault of my own.

If you’re unfortunate enough to deal with Protector Insurance, prepare for a frustrating, time-wasting battle.

Advised company that the property had no completion certificate a legal requirement and previous insurer Allianz voided the previous insurance as legal requirements were not met. Bathroom leak still not repaired. Rather play the blame game to keep huge premium payments £800 approx per year for massive group policy.

WARNING... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with.
Roof tiles literally slid off our 10 year old house as they were not sufficiently fixed from new.
3 story house and this would have KILLED anyone below if we was in the garden at the time.

They have finally replied after a month of Wind and rain going through the roof and now concluded it's an exclusion in the contract of wear and tear, so will not assist.... Absolute joke.

THIS COMPANY WILL LOOK FOR ANY EXCUSE AND CLAUSE TO GET OUT OF A CLAIM - DO NOT USE.
We have had to use them due to the shared ownership company, so this is not our choice at all.

Don’t even think about getting insurance with this lot they will fob you of asking you stupid questions about the legitimate claim like which storm damaged your roof We’ve had loads of storms recently and very frequently together how can I possibly answer that? They just don’t want to pay out so there are being as awkward as possible I've never claimed in my entire life and this how I’m treated never again will I insure with this bunch.

Very bad insurance company. Absolute nightmare to deal with. Bunch of scammers. My local council use these idiots as insurance.

I was unlucky to have to experience dealing with this company as a 3rd party insurer.
The place seems to employ a bunch of amateurs. They don’t reply to emails..if you ring them for one thing, they try to throw you off track to discuss something else. It’s like they’re trained to fob you off.. I got told car seats won’t need replacing after an accident. Then when I argued that they do..I got asked why my child was still in a car seat. Clearly safety is not important to these guys or they don’t understand as they’re like kids themselves.
Getting the money owed by them is also a constant battle. Took ages to get them to agree to the amount owed & then they didn’t even pay it fully. Since then, I have had an email to say that the remainder will be paid but so far nothing has been received!

I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with these people as I made a claim against my local council as they insure them. They denied liability 3 months after I had sent them evidence proving they were wrong. They took the opinion of a council employee without any evidence to prove this. Many of my e mails and calls were not returned and signed for letters ignored.

Today I have received an apology from them for all the mistakes they made but to little to late. Please make sure you record all correspondence with them and check everything they say and do .

If there was an option for no stars I would have used this. Please think very carefully before using this company. My next stop is the Financial Ombudsman.

I wish I could give no starts, protector insurance is a fraudulent company, the cover insurance for waltham forest council their driver has hit my car and has admitted liability but protector insurance refuse to assist apparently they need confirmation of liability from the council and not the driver absolutely disgusting company 3 weeks without a car and counting this insurance company is the most fraudulent company ever incorporated
