The lady I spoke to had empathy and was easy to talk to . My dad had passed away and I have been left in charge of my mum who has mental health issues . I rang concerning an issue with a utility bill. And informed the lady I was waiting for the Court of Protection to grant me a deputy ship as dad had no will and neither parent had power of attorney papers . The lady was very helpful. Thanks

Inappropriate and bad systems

My experience similar to other users here. Never heard of this firm before, but when my 81 year old mother died at end of January, she owed Nationwide £300 from that month's credit card bill.

I wrote and sent a copy of the death certificate to Nationwide and it appears they then pass the debt to Philip Cohen. I received a demand for payment from them, which I paid at weekend within 3 days of having received it

Literally the day after I paid, I received a phone call on my personal mobile (which I have no idea how they obtained and i have never given them permission to call) , following up their letter. Their systems are so bad, they didn't even know the debt had already been paid

Absolute disgrace, acting like back street loan sharks harrassing bereaved people, and probably not even allowed to call them on their mobiles. I am very shocked and will be writing to document bad practice to Nationwide

Literally call me everyday about my father-in-law’s debt. He passed away in December with no property or assets whatsoever. He had less than £1 in his bank account and the funeral has left us £4K out of pocket, which is life, but P&C you have nothing to reclaim from me.

When I told the credit card company, they passed on my info to Philips & Cohen who won’t stop calling me. Children legally do not assume credit card debt of parents, even if he was biologically my dad, he wasn’t though so I don’t know why I am the one being spammed.

I blocked the number and still I get voicemails daily. Leave me alone, we are still grieving the death and the last thing we need is you hassling us. Relentless

Following the death of my Dad, their specialist department managed the utilities debt until my Dad's house was sold. I was treated with compassion and respect at all times, with no pressure. Periodically they would ring me for an update on the status of the house sale, and inform me of the current debt, and we would agree to speak in two months time. On every call the manner in which I was treated made a huge impression upon me during one of the most distressing and challenging times of my life. My sincerest gratitude.

The process to finalise the account was quick and easy to follow. I'm a bit rubbish at dealing with paperwork promptly, and you needed to send two letters. The tone of the letters was not intimidating but supportive. Having various payment options was helpful

This company just hounds and hounds you for the money. I told them there were complications with the estate but they continued with incessant calls and never called my lawyers when I told
Them to deal with them. And when I’m in a position to pay - no information.
